Computer Help plx - Kaistine - 10-02-2009 Recently, I've been getting a notification telling me that my display driver is not responding, followed by a blue screen. After restarting, I'd see that my graphics card wasn't being recognized, so I reinstalled the drivers, but the same thing happened. Now, after reinstalling the drivers, it still isn't recognizing my graphics card. Is this fixable or will I be needing to buy a new card? If this is any help: Problem Signature: Problem Event Name: Blue Screen OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information: BCC Code: 116 BCP1: FFFFFA8005EA5010 BCP2: FFFFF880049C7CB0 BCP3: 0000000000000000 BCP4: 000000000000000D OS Version: 6_1_7600 Service Pack: 0_0 Product: 256_1 Re: Computer Help plx - Kaistine - 10-02-2009 http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/5758/errorhq.jpg Re: Computer Help plx - lawlerbation the hardcore squatter - 10-02-2009 http://forums.techarena.in/windows-vist ... 704917.htm took me less then 30 seconds in google it suggests updating the drivers for the video card and i would also make sure vista is up to date as well Re: Computer Help plx - Kaistine - 10-02-2009 I've already updated the drivers. And I'm using Windows 7 if that makes any difference. Re: Computer Help plx - Crazy Diana - 10-02-2009 i like how lawler didnt even read the post and apparently googled off of that Re: Computer Help plx - Aragon - 10-02-2009 Hello, Vista and 7 use methods to keep your system running in basic VGASafe mode in the case the video adapter fails. This prevents the computer from completely locking up or crashing. It's saying that your video card (or the installed driver) said "Whoa, something is seriously wrong here; I'm dead" which usually points to hardware fault on the card or the system bus. The system is recognizing your card by name. I would first say bad card (overheating issue usually) but this can also be caused by cpu/memory problems or bad chipset drivers. Windows 7 default drivers should be fairly stable but chipset drivers (depends on your motherboard) or a memory test (memtest86+) would be the best bet to try before replacing hardware. If your Windows 7 system made some minidump files (\windows\minidump\*) you can send one of the latest bluescreen crash dumps (dated) to me and I will see what it says caused the problem. If you have a full kernel dump, that's even better, but much larger. [ \Windows\MEMORY.DMP ] Further Info About Bugcheck 116... Bug Check 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR The VIDEO_TDR_ ERROR bug check has a value of 0x00000116. This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed. Windows 6.x will try to poll the video card at regular intervals and if the hardware does not respond, it will try to issue a soft reset for the video card only (detaches it from the system and issues a command to reset). If the card is so FUBAR'd it does not respond, you get the blue screen crash. If it does respond, the driver can back it down to that safe mode video just to keep you running (without fancy features or accelleration or gaming).
