The logfile for the machine simply cuts off, so it's not clear why this happened, but we suspect that it relates to a Sandy Bridge bug related to CPU C-state power transitions. We are looking into whether we can address this without rebooting the machine again, but may need to schedule a maintenance event to adjust BIOS settings.

We ran into the same problems at work with sandy bride, it was a simple impi firmware update.

If this time won't work for you, please let us know, and we can provide for you a temporary alternate server at a different location.

(If the current machine crashes between now and the scheduled maintenance window, which is unlikely, we will perform the move early, right then, to minimize downtime.)
