DPS - ArchmageFurly in three days - 07-29-2011
I'll make this short. We can all improve and people need to get that idea through their heads. Everyone can do something to better themselves and anyone who thinks otherwise just needs to go suck on a Tauren hoof. I prefer raiders that constantly try to improve and get better, to those that jsut assume they are perfect. Here is something to enlighten all of you.

Comparing any DPS to the top 100 parses is just stupid, and you of all people should know this. The fact is, these parses are the ones with the higher hero up time, the people who get chain tricks, shit like that. Our dps is below what it should be, but lets take a realistic approach to this.
EDIT: Also, WoL parses are still bugged for some of the top 10, showing them at 2x their dps based on combat log errors.

And I'm going to tag on something to that. On fights that are more complex than Baleroc, the difference between dps people should be doing compared to the numbers they actually pull becomes much larger. Good raiders that play dps specs are able to maximize their output WHILE learning a fight. That's when it actually matters. Any idiot can roll their face across their keyboard after having done a fight 500 times. Before you start saying it's not all about numbers I'm well aware of that. we're fucking up on more than just that, but this thread's sole purpose is to address the numbers problem. If you see someone playing a spec such as yours that is having problems, help them. If you see any way to help someone get better then do it. /endrant
Edit: To thorran I made this post before I saw your reply. Read the fucking part where I said take this with a grain of salt. It's not perfect, but it will at least make people think and consider and maybe do their own research to see where they should be performing. I don't have the time right now to sort through shittons of logs and tell every individual member what they should be doing and how to fix it. I made this thread to promote people to do that themselves.

furly ffs u cant compare dps to top parses that for one are 25% shorter wich gives this way higher hero up time also this are all ppl getting chained buffed to top... also all this shit probably includes all the 35 second fights showing in wol

If I made a Maslow's Hierarchy of raid needs:
Apex: Theorycrafting
Gear, item level, raid make-up, spec, etc.
Guild and server
Computer, internet, lag, UI, etc.
Base: Enchants, gems, consumables, etc.
Theorycrafting is self-actualization that most people don't even worry about until the other needs are met. For example, Cahn is bringing us down by claiming we lack the gear. People who have 1000ms and can't stay connected probably don't even bother theorycrafting. And every time people bitch about the player pool of Scilla they are just reaffirming a lack of ability to obtain better gear, item level, and raid make-ups.
I don't know what I'm getting at here other than maybe start with the smaller things? Check that DPS is using consumables and not lagging the fuck out. Clear the server out of any available talent.
Asking people to research and theorycraft top ranked players to improve DPS is pretty farfetched.
