First Build Advice - Doomkin - 10-25-2011 So my shitty laptop is finally on its last legs and I feel its time to lay it to rest and build a tower. It's my first time doing this so any and all of my choices in items are suspect. What i'm looking for is recommendations for components that have the same or near same performance And maybe saving a little money if the performance cut isn't that huge. I'm open for any suggestions as i'm sure you guys know a lot more than I do Here's my faggot list Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231311 Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822136284 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819115074 MoBo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813131700 GFX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130571 Power Supply: Not sure how much I need different people tell me different things Re: First Build Advice - CAN - 10-25-2011 dont get an overclocking motherboard with a cpu that cant be overclocked Re: First Build Advice - CAN - 10-25-2011 what i meant to say was just spend the extra 30 dollars and get a 2500k. that motherboard has a lot of shit you wont use, find one that is like half the price Re: First Build Advice - Crazy Diana - 10-25-2011 give up get a emachine Re: First Build Advice - CAN - 10-25-2011 get EVGA cards with lifetime warranty, they have -AR instead of -TR in their model# Re: First Build Advice - Sanderz - 10-25-2011 First of all, what is your price range? Also, are you set on intel/nvidia or would you go with amd on either? Re: First Build Advice - Doomkin - 10-25-2011 I'm trying to stay under 900 if possible And all ive ever known is nvidia from friends and stuff amd is a foreign land Re: First Build Advice - Sanderz - 10-25-2011 Well, you'll go past 900 when your cpu+mobo is 500. As cahn said, you'd be better off with a mobo in the 150-200 range. I like amd more because its cheaper and cooler. I'm in the market for a new gpu but i'd never get a housefire. Re: First Build Advice - xnskzzxnvs - 10-25-2011 staying below $900... spending $300 on mobo... look of disapproval get a cheaper mobo and spend the money on better cpu/gpu or a case since those can be reused for multiple builds/forever Re: First Build Advice - Doomkin - 10-25-2011 I have a like new full case from a friend who just buys stuff and never follows thru on finishing shit. What combo of board and cpu would you guys recommend if I were to stay intel ? |
