DKP reset formula - jackslammer - 03-13-2009
This is the formula I used to 'reset' DKP from Sunwell to WotLK, taking into consideration lifetime DKP, standard deviation, a reasonable mean amount of DKP, and an adjustable coefficient. This resulted in incentive for players to still show up for Sunwell however any new player with no DKP could catch up usually with in one raid. This 'reset' just gives first dibs to players who were most reliable before the 'reset'.

I found the 0.395 coefficient yielded a mean of 100 DKP I assume we will use a similar formula to 'reset' DKP for Ulduar, the coefficient will of course be different. If we want to provide any additional incentive to players for PTR content, we could increase their coefficient by a marginal amount.

This is pretty much my plan. The alternative is to reset using players' curent dkp. But I think that's probably not quite as good of a method given the dkp stacking that's going to occur between now and Uldar.
I'm still shopping around for a better system or a better tracking mod. Ours both are really good but have some flaws. I'm not holding my breath to find something better, but I always have an eye out.

You should throw that formula up on EJ and see what they have to say about it. Maybe they could help you out.
