It sounds to me like the officer was on guard because as soon as he pulled these people over, some of them started hopping out of the car. And the people he pulled over were obviously already agitated due to the relative's predicament in the hospital. The article Abe put up portrays the NFL player as the patron saint of patience, but the MSN article reports that they argued back an forth quite a bit. Seems like it was just an issue of overt tension on both sides. Neither of them acted well, but I don't think you can blame either of them either.
