It sounds to me like we're pretty much on the same page here... in truth. Cull the number of CLs, but dont necessarily remove their o-chat privleges. Plop them into my suggested Core Raider rank. Make the lines a little more clear cut!

Who cares if people get what rank they deserve as long as they do the job both as a raider and guild member that they need to. You said yourself some people wouldn't care if they were friends rank as long as they continued to do what they did now. You also said that officer chat shows little of consequence, and from my experience anything said during raid is usually to point out who fucked up how. Is it for that input that you are having people read ochat?

In any case, Tyrul's structural system seemed sound and solves the majority of the problems.

I care that people get ranks they deserve.

Given the system I suggested, they still would. Hell, add an Elite Raider rank above Core for even more recognition. You clearly want some structure as shown by what you expect of the ranks. Unfortunately you currently don't have a way to show recognition to deserving players, without having to promote them to CL.

Its greatly diminishing the structure that any half way successful guild deserves. We deserve it Abe, we really do. Just as you deserve to be able to show recognition, all the while still being able to count on the people holding "true" CL and Officer ranks to do what they should be doing.

With my suggestion, people still get that recognition, they would still have access to o-chat for their valuable input. CL/Officer alts have a rank that wont cause any confusion and you will have in place Class Leaders, that actually live up to the expectations you have of the rank.

Its a win-win scenario.

I personally don't see much of a problem in the rankings other than it is becoming cluttered. oChat is the new gChat and it is as if the guild raider chat is ochat and friends and whatever else goes to gchat now.

I think people are just confused as to why there are so many CL rank. We know it's for ochat among other things, but for the most part, it's officer alts or old school raiders. I would just do away with the CL rank and rename it to what it seems to be, Core/Veteran/Experienced/Trusted/Proven/ect Raider.

Maybe add a rank to include officer alts or special access (ochat/gbank)? With a more clearly defined hierarchy, new members and friends have a better idea of who to go to based on the rank's experience and helpfulness in the guild.
