1. 21 years old from Kentucky, male. Time /played on current main is 256 days.
2. Main talent build is a slight modification of the current cookie-cutter Arcane focused specialization. Sacrificed 3 yards of range in favor of maximizing another DPS focused talent. I can live with 33 yards. If it becomes a problem in newer ICC content it's 30 seconds of a respec to be rectified.
I've always misses frost raiding, to be honest. Ever since pre-BC when fire starting outperforming, I always through BC now and then would switch over to Frost for a fight or two. The playstyle has totally changed since the days of Mage tanking Zerevor or AOE'ing Kael's weapons. But I'm up to date on it. I can play frost quite well (and it's actually midly competitive these days), if the time ever came to where we needed a 5% crit buff or a replenishment. I'm never opposed to switching over to a different build if it benefits the raid. A serious problem with today's game is lack of respect for one's fellow raiders. That's why I miss vanilla. It was all teamwork. Helping each other farm resistance gear, staying up for one more UBRS run, and handing out pots to those who needed. Nowadays most DPS classes (particularly butthurt pures since hybrids got sorta good), are all about *MY DPS* instead of *THE BOSS DYING*. Sure, I love seeing myself high on Recount. It instills confidence and is a fun time. But it's a lot more fun knowing I'm the fulcrum of success that made the big thing fall down and drop purples.
3.http://www.wowarmory.com/character-shee ... &n=Magiray I had +10 stats on my T9 robe, but replaced it last night and just threw a +8 for the sake of having it for this application. I'll have +10 within the next day or so.
4. I once had plenty. Plenty of great parses from Ulduar hard modes, however I haven't been in touch with the game in a few months. I take breaks every fall for my soccer team. This season past was my last however, so won't happen in the future.
5. The most difficult encounter I've ever been a part of was vanilla Gothik. Some of my old guildmates say vanilla 4H was harder. Pre-nerf Firefighter in Ulduar was also pretty brutal back in the middle of 2009. Just for me personally, I had a hard time with Gothik.
6. Desolation Knights was my first raiding guild. Rocket Surgeons of Executus was my 2nd.. Played there for a couple of years, before finally transferring to Scilla. I raided for about 6 months with Boss (who I got my Rusted Ulduar Drake with). Had a 3 week trial period, passed easily. If anyone knows Tay the paladin, he and I were a part of Boss's 10 man core group and I was always a regular in 10 or 25 man raids.
7. I do have a job, but it's a rarity that I'm forced to stay late. My work schedule is also flexible.
8. The one thing that separates me from the majority of mages is the pure obsession I have with understanding every little mechanic about my class. Crit modifiers for different builds, soft haste caps, DamagePerMana tradeoffs, and most of all - benefits of stats. Item level means nothing to me. For example, As arcane, an item level 200 trinket that gives me 84 haste is always better that a 232 trinket that gives me critical strike. Understanding what stats optimize your performance as a certain build is always better than whoring any high item level that drops at your feet and is VITAL if you want to hold your own in a raid. While the game isn't nearly as critical on performance as it used to be (easy content), I still and always will take my class as seriously as I always have. Whether I'm farming NR for Huhu or respecing in between Hard mode Mimiron attempts to get that perfect build for a bad situation, I only play the mage class and I take it extremely seriously.
I read the works of EJ.com's Manly and Sancus (two of the best mages I've ever spoken with) like it's a bible. I learn a new intricacy every day. It's wise reading up at a place like EJ where a lot of great WoW mage minds come together. I know my role. I make green bars smaller. I'm not a fool with iceblocks and blinks, and usually only need to mess up once to never make the same mistake again.
9. Quartz - helps me modify the casting bars of my Focus targets so I don't miss a quick Focused Counterspell or Poly if the situation calls for it.
DBM- Have it or don't raid IMO.
Recount- Stays closed during encounters so I don't get in a pissing contest with anyone and lose sight of what I'm doing. Quick way to fuck around and die.
Cooldown Count- BEST ADDON EVER. Numbers count down the cooldown of particular spells.
10. I raid to be the best. I raid to be proud of the tag that's below "Magiray, Hand of A'dal". I raid for people to look at me and wish they had my guild. It's all about the prestige. Piss on the gear. If I could raid current content with my old T2 Netherwind, I'd definetely do that. Bosses dying is all I care about. I'll do whatever I can for my raid to achieve that.
In conclusion, I'm a 21-year old guy with a good sense of humor. A guild full of friends that become raiders at 8PM sounds wonderful to me and that's what I'm thinking you guys are. If a raid spot isn't open, that's fine. Being in a fantastic guild filled with like-minded individuals who are actually talented at this game is the environment I want to play in. I thank you for considering me.
