I'm not gonna lie... This fight is begining to get to me. I don't think we've ever been stuck for so long on one boss with so little progression. Maybe my memories of Muru are rose colored, but it seems like even then, each week was a little better than the last. Abe will probably disagree, but I don't feel that we have made any progress at all on this fight in months. If anything, we've slid backwards. I remember a couple months ago when we had a night where nearly every single attempt got us into P2. Now half our wipes or more are in P1.

This is a part of the reason behind my absenteeism. At this point (I don't think this comes as a big surprise, if its a surprise at all) I am more or less finished with "progression" until Cataclysm... at which point if WLPH hasn't self destructed, I will return to raiding. Its simply too late into the expansion (or rather, the given content) for me to truthfully want to put forth the amount of time and dedication required. I took a long hard look at the current state of the guild, my faith in its raiders and my own dedication this late into the content. The end result was coming to the realization I am not willing to make the sacrifices required for progression raiding, again, this late into the content.

Coping out on Ruby Sanctum on its first night of release, in favor of focusing on six month old content, sealed the decision for me.



I am by no means advocating others quit or take a break... but what I would like others to take from this rant is simply the following:

If you aren't sure you have the drive and desire (in some cases here, the skill) to complete this fight... You don't. If you have a doubt, you had better decide whether or not you are capable of stepping up your game and bringing the level of skill and focus required for the content. You wont be doing any favors if you're coming in half-assed, just because other people want to kill a boss.


Edit: On that note, I am always willing to assist if I am available. I have no intention of abandoning the guild and should my presence assist the raid, I am still willing to provide said presence. (Just clearly, not as often as I had months ago).

I said it last night. Everyone has something that they can improve upon. I feel currently that people are doing LK grudgingly, and as a result aren't doing everything they can to anticipate the fight correctly. There's a huge difference in preparing for an event so you can react to it instantly, and reacting quickly after it already happens. On a fight like LK, that half second is the difference is what causes a wipe. Everyone needs to realize that they have not been perfect on this fight. Admit to your mistakes and don't allow them to continue. Even if you didn't fuck up, you can say "What could I have done to squeeze more dps out, or put myself in a better position, or make the job for someone else easier.

There's a lot of things going on in that fight that people don't seem to understand, and rely on other people to cover for them. I'll use this as an example. All of the ranged are stacked the fuck up on the same side during transitions. I'm seeing people get 6-7 stacks of that debuff. It's not killing anyone, but it's throwing more stress on heals. I called it in vent several times, and in the alter attempts switched to Rootbeer's side, and didn't take even a single tick of the debuff because I was the only other person there.

I've said this over and over again. Phase 1, using this strat, ranged needs to stack better. I wish I wasn't the smallest fucking character in the raid so people could see where I'm standing. Your goal on the shadowtraps as ranged should be to have them overlap, so you only have to move 5 instead of 7 yards. You may say: "OMG SMALL DIFFERENCE", but those small differences add up.

Raging spirits. Abe has such a fucking stressful job here, so make his life easier and run towards him when it spawns and don't sit there and get meleed like an idiot.

Valks. All of you ranged dps have something you can do on the run. As soon as the fucking third valk spawns, you should be running out while using w/e the fuck that gcd is to get some more damage.

Those are small things, but they add up, and on a fight like this everything counts.

Now to the larger issues. I.E. Valks and Defile.

Honestly, there's no magic solution to this. There are slightly different strats, but every strat comes with the "If one person fucks it up it's over" clause. React quicker. That's all. We're screaming in vent about defiles, look at the fucking center of your screen, and be ready to move not only if it's you but also move away from the person who has it as well.

At 20% buff. 80 guilds in the U.S. killed it. At 30%, last time I checked it was like 94. More buffs and time spent on this boss isn't going to change anything. It all comes down to player skill. There are plenty of people in our raid fully capable of doing 11/12 hm, but who just are not good enough to do Lich King as of right now. I really don't know what else to say. So many guilds are in our situation right now, and many are jsut saying fuck it. I don't want to do that, but something has to change, either the raiders or their ability.

In short. There's alot more that everyone can do that people aren't even thinking about. Take a serious look at the fight, and I mean every single mechanic in it. There's a reason for every ability behind this boss, look at how you can respond to it better.
