I don't imagine you were suggesting it at all, I just dont want focus taken off the more prevalent problem... A serious lack of skill/effort showing in a nice chunk of the raiders. The usage of consumables may actually be a very easy way to tell who is putting forth that required effort. So I'm also not saying the hard work you put into your original post is irrelevant, either. Some people may simply take it out of context though and assume if they are using potions everything should fall into place.

Theres so many things going wrong I dont even know where to start.

If you look at DPS, we have 3-4 people under 9k effective DPS. Guilds like Paragon who killed it with the 5% buff were sustaining 10k effective DPS. There is NO reason we shouldn't all be above 12k effective (except for Fordelf, who does tranqs.)

It seems that we have new people in the fight weekly. If you throw 25 semi retarded people into a fight and keep the same 25 people for 200+ attempts, they're bound to get somewhere eventually.

We seem to have a few people who still play on dial-up.

The only steady healers we have had have been Jack, Alyse and Darktwig (and Squirrel, but hes usually boomkin). Us rotating disc priests is hurting us pretty bad, especially since they're the key healers for 2/3 of the fight.

In conclusion,

If you cant devote 3-4 days (maybe exaggerating) a week to this fight and put in 110% effort, just start going to the PUGs, they suit you better. I agree with what Furly said yesterday. We have a few people who seem to just show up to grind through wipes just to keep their raid spots. We NEED all 25 raiders to WANT to kill this boss in order to kill it. There is a reason that only 90-some guilds in the US and a little under 300 guilds in the world have killed it. Their raiders contribute and give 110%. SO WE NEED TO DO THAT TOO.

I was actually thinking about this over the weekend. I am going to attempt to start keeping track of wipes and the first ~4 deaths. My goal at the end of the night will be to post a list that looks something like this:

Attempt 1
Wipe due to: Bad defile planted by Abec
Death 1: Fordelf (Plague Cleanse Slow)
Death 2: Lightnen (Spirit Shockwave)
Death 3: Jackslammer (Infest)
Death 4: Darktwig (Infest)
Death 5: Myndore (Infest)

This should allow us to better analyze what's going wrong and who's causing it. With the above example, we would be able to not only see the major wipe causing fail of the fucked up defile - but also that Infest healing was failing, I fucked up a cleanse and Lightnen needs to watch his positioning and not get in front of adds (Note: These are just examples pulled out my ass).

I'm not gonna lie... This fight is begining to get to me. I don't think we've ever been stuck for so long on one boss with so little progression. Maybe my memories of Muru are rose colored, but it seems like even then, each week was a little better than the last. Abe will probably disagree, but I don't feel that we have made any progress at all on this fight in months. If anything, we've slid backwards. I remember a couple months ago when we had a night where nearly every single attempt got us into P2. Now half our wipes or more are in P1.

On top of that, we still have a long long ways to go. Again, Abe will disagree, but I don't feel that we've even gotten to the hard part yet. Phase Three and Frostmourn room are going to be hell. One person dies in that place and it's a wipe. We have a shit ton of people who can't just get to the marked person and stack on them for valks - what makes us think they're going to be able to follow a marked person around the room? Or, god forbid, find an acceptable path on their own?

I would not contest the suggestion that we might just need to take a break from this boss for awhile. Maybe focus on RS HM. That fight is supposed to be a good deal easier than HM LK and drops upgrades for everyone. I dunno. Just a thought.

At this point (I don't think this comes as a big surprise, if its a surprise at all) I am more or less finished with "progression" until Cataclysm... at which point if WLPH hasn't self destructed, I will return to raiding. Its simply too late into the expansion (or rather, the given content) for me to truthfully want to put forth the amount of time and dedication required. I took a long hard look at the current state of the guild, my faith in its raiders and my own dedication this late into the content. The end result was coming to the realization I am not willing to make the sacrifices required for progression raiding, again, this late into the content.

Coping out on Ruby Sanctum on its first night of release, in favor of focusing on six month old content, sealed the decision for me.



I am by no means advocating others quit or take a break... but what I would like others to take from this rant is simply the following:

If you aren't sure you have the drive and desire (in some cases here, the skill) to complete this fight... You don't. If you have a doubt, you had better decide whether or not you are capable of stepping up your game and bringing the level of skill and focus required for the content. You wont be doing any favors if you're coming in half-assed, just because other people want to kill a boss.


Edit: On that note, I am always willing to assist if I am available. I have no intention of abandoning the guild and should my presence assist the raid, I am still willing to provide said presence. (Just clearly, not as often as I had months ago).

For the record I said we wouldn't be capable of defeating this encounter until at least 30% and I would rather have a 1-2 day raid week than grind HM LK.

If people were serious about this encounter we would've been using all attempts since four months ago and we should have a unified and concise strat on the forums. I have some apparent fixes for Paladins regarding Aura Mastery and HoJ that should've been addressed much earlier, but it hasn't been the cause of our wipes.

I'm not sure if we want to use the strat with Paladins stunning or continue using shockwave, I'm really not sure what strat of the dozens we've tried we're using, we really should have a thread on this. I really haven't done much research on this encounter and haven't even done it on 10 man on any toon, because I really don't care about it.

From the sound of it we should have all Paladins with Imp HoJ and Aura Mastery. There should be 3 Paladins always assigned to the first stun on Valks and 2 on backup in case one of the assigned 3 get picked up or can't stun. With 5 Paladins with Aura Mastery they should be used consecutively for 5/6 of infests and the remaining 1/6 can catch a Hymn or other cool down.

In 17 attempts last night (only 8/17 even made it to Phase 2)
