25M HM LK DEFEATED ON 11/21/2010 and we will continue to clear 11/12 25M HM ICC and RS on Tuesdays, 25M HM LK scheduling will be decided elsewhere.

I expect at least a couple solid 10M raids to begin clearing Cataclysm raid content during December, given it is the holiday season and players will be leveling I am not sure when we want to begin full raid weeks of 25M content again. An absolute date will be set in response to this post. Thank you, and enjoy the holidays!

A) Do you intend to raid 25M content with WLPH come Cataclysm, and on what character as what role primarily?
B) If so then approximately when will you be level 85 and able to raid 3-4 nights for ~4 hours a night again?

Absolute date to begin full raid weeks of 25M content with the goal of progressing and being in the top 100 of US guilds:

A) Crucible, Paladin, Holy. Honestly, this may change. I will be leveling up my Pally first and would definitely like to stick to Holy, but there’s a solid chance that it will suck balls and I will either try to go Ret or Prot on my Pally or switch mains to Fey. I won’t really know until I get there.

B) I’ve got a ton of unused vacation and I think I’m going to use some of it for a few days after the release. If I’m not 85 within a week, I’ll be surprised. I may even be tempted to make an 85-or-bust server first leveling group if anyone’s interested.

I think we need to talk about whether or not 25 mans are even of interest to us as a guild. I personally do not want to repeat my experiences with this game from the last 5 months. The vast majority of the cause of our failure on HM LK was attendance and the substitution of bad (maybe not always “bad”, but “sub-par” for sure) players for good players who had left. Players will be crawling out of the woodwork, wanting to raid once Cata hits, but a year from now, I don’t want to be stuck on some boss or other because half of them quit when content was too hard/stale/boring, their class was underpowered/overpowerd/hard/easy or they decided they were too cool for school.

Honestly, I would rather form up a couple of really strong 10 man groups with several other teams for alts/friends/whatever. I’m sick of carrying random newb bads that we let join the raid for the sake of a warm body. 10 committed, good players > 10 committed, good players and 15 random bads who don’t give a fuck.

I was disappointed to find we couldn't turn 25M HM ICC into 10M HM ICC for HM LK, but if this changes I see "splitting into 10 mans" turning into a weekly occurrence if we were to run into the same boat. I think this decision will largely be decided by the actual tuning and difficulty of 10M vs 25M, fuck being stuck on a boss for five months when we could farm it weekly on a different member count raid especially when they reward identical items, titles, satisfaction, etc..

A) I have yet to reach a decision on which toon I want to play for the bulk of cataclysm. Ive almost exclusively played a moonkin since BC, I excel at it and find it incredibly comfortable. I have long stated though that I want to get away from playing a moonkin, in fact going into wotlk that way my intention... however to meet wlph's raid requirements I stuck with the big owl. I have narrowed my decision down to one of three toons: Priest, Warlock, Druid. At this point, the decision may be based more on necessity than actual desire. I get the impression a lot of our stronger players are rolling dps, which could leave us with a shortage of proficient healers. If thats the case, I may very well focus on my priest.

Long story short... idk yet.

B) I nerded out and booked a week of vacation as soon as I knew Cata's official launch date. By the end of that week I fully intend to have no less than one max level toon ready to raid, with others following by the end of December. My two cents? A nice target to resume 25m raids would likely be the beginning of January. By then everyone should have one or two 85s and we can fill a roster based on what roles suit our players/needs the best. 10m can fill the gap in Dec for those players who level faster.

Ultimately Id like to see WLPH continue raiding 25man content, but we should put more rigorous plans in place for 10m group's as a fallback.
