Baring a few minor adjustments, my current plan is to go forward as we always have.

DKP will be normalized before the first Cata raid based on the values currently on the board. For those not familiar with normalization, that's where I reduce the DKP of every raider down to an average of about 100 DKP. If you have 200 DKP right now, you may end up with 60 DKP for the expansion while someone with 1000 DKP right now may end up with 140 DKP for the expansion. The end result of this normalization is that people who have massive amounts of DKP will be able to get just one piece of loot before falling back with everyone else - instead of being able to fully gear themselves before anyone else has a shot at anything.

DKP awards will continue to be 10 DKP per boss kill with 5 DKP timed awards every 30 minutes. Loot costs will be 1/2 DKP for Main Spec and 1/8 for Off.

I'm not particularly keen on making significant changes to our system (IE: switching to a bid system or something), but I'll listen to any ideas anyone has in regards to changes to the current set-up.

Just remember that the somewhat messy state of the current DKP can be blamed on end of expansion issues and is not a particularly good indicator of how it generally runs. The current system has been working amazingly ever since we upgraded from napkin DKP back in BC.

Just remember that the somewhat messy state of the current DKP can be blamed on end of expansion issues and is not a particularly good indicator of how it generally runs. The current system has been working amazingly ever since we upgraded from napkin DKP back in BC.

I mean, the last couple months I really wasnt around, however I stand to have more dkp than someone like myndor, whose attendance was better than mine towards the end of wotlk... Granted, for most its only a very small amount of dkp that will carry over.

I've considered this, for sure. I'm still leaning toward equalization based on the simple fact that I really don't want to freeroll the first twenty pieces of loot because everyone has the same amount of DKP. Also, like you mentioned, it really is only a small amount of carry over. The idea is that everyone starts out on roughly the same playing-field instead of exactly the same playing-field. Some people will start off slightly lower or slightly higher than their recent raid participation would dictate, but any such cases should be few and minor. And let's be fair. "Gloriously outdated" may be a bit of an exageration. The last recorded DKP information was end of October, and we really haven't raided all that much since then.

I don't want it to sound like my DKP plan is just the way it's going to be. I am very much open to hearing any ideas or concerns or even complaints that anyone has. But, yeah, if it ain't broke...

Full DKP, no. But I do fully expect a solid waitlist in Cata (at least at the beginning). So I will be going back to maintaining the waitlist. Guild chat spam and all.

This is one that I definitely would like some input on. Since we started this, WL has been 5 DKP per boss kill. In my opinion this really only convinces potential WL-ers to show up on Tuesday when everything dies and fuck the rest of the week because they won't be getting much anyway. I would like to change this to a better system that rewards players for the time they spend on WL, not just what the raid does while they're not there.

I'm thinking of doing away with the "per kill" portion and setting up a "per raid" amount that would be roughly equivalent to say 1/3 of what someone would make if they were in the raid the whole week.

So, say the first tier of raiding has 9 bosses. That's 90 DKP. Four nights of raiding for four hours would garner an additional 160 DKP in timed awards. So someone in the raid the whole week would earn 250 DKP. This means that I would want someone who sat on WL the whole week to receive ~83 DKP. Assuming a 4 day raid week, The WL per diem would be ~21 DKP.

I honestly think a loot council is a valid option. I have nothing against our current system and if we continue to use it I believe we should not alter it.
