I'm sorry Archlight but that is one of the most emo and juvenile songs I've ever heard. First off I was laughing my ass off before any of those pre-pubescent, angst driven (because they can't play XBOX), little fucking fairy boys said a word.
The opening sounds like some cheerleader low pitch rhythm, almost like it was ripped off from Queen's "We Will Rock You" then fades in a completely predictable pop synthesized orchestra, piano, and voiced over chorus and some feminine voice that probably recommended his sex idol Freddie Mercurie's song for the opening.
This reverbed feminine voice is covered by an extremely simple low pitch three beat sequence of two snares and a tom, an articulation of percussion that Sesame Street could outperform. Behind the simple percussive rhythm is another apparent and equally as simple synthesized collection orchestra instruments and piano rolls that is as repetitive as it is annoying.
Then the fucking lyrics, I'd assume that Tenacious D or Weird Al Yankovich had written this garbage, but it was apparent after about a minute that they were very serious (like wrist slashing serious) about the lyrics, and that they'd repeat this nonsense throughout the entire song. Of the few verses in the song they actually sing, these kids are singing about being responsible for the destruction of a city however they take the perspective of victims and illustrate the suffering of the city's destruction; so these guys are bad asses burning the city down so that they can suffer and have an excuse to cry and be victims?
'it's the end of the world'
'they put amphetamines in the air and make me breathe'
'let's watch the city burn'
'and billions of people die for a lost cause'
'the city looks so pretty, do you want to burn it with me?'
'take the pill and go to class'
Maybe I'm out of the loop of the modern music movement, but this looks like the kind of crap that was formed from MySpace and the fucking emo kids that crave attention, this music is nothing but a mistakenly 'hardcore' disguised enormous juvenile cry for attention.
It has been a while since I've written a music review, and maybe this song is a joke on their album, I have not heard any other music of theirs, however I find this song and this group to be a disgrace.
