Well, pretty much every trading card game looks like a MTG ripoff (because they all are). 10 year olds is subjective, so that's up to you to decide if WoW itself is a game for 10 yr olds.

Some fun mechanics. No tapping.. your creatures can attack and defend in the same turn. No blocking.. instead they have many cards with taunt, forcing creatures to attack them first if they choose to attack. No land.. instead everything has a mana cost. Your mana starts at 1 turn one, and refills and adds 1 each turn. Your hero starts w/ 30 hp and can equip weapons to attack creatures or the enemy hero. Each class has a unique ability for 2 mana (e.g. Warlock has lifetap - lose 2 life, draw a card).

Similar FNM thing with arena - pay gold or $$ to draft a deck, draw three random cards and discard one. Potential access to any card for the chosen class. Enter arena and win games to get better prizes (maximum of 9 wins or 3 losses, whichever comes first). You don't keep the deck after leaving arena.

I don't mind MTG rip offs. But the vids I watched made the game seem very very simple. MTG was great because of the complex interactions between cards and the stack. I downloaded the shitty Steam Magic 2014 and actually have been really enjoying it. It's hard to suppress my inner nerd's desire to go get back into it for real. :lol:

Back in the day, that was how I played. Couldn't bring myself to hang out with the filth at my local store. I was actually paid to mod the official MTGO forums for awhile. Circa 2004 if there's anyone out there from that era.

Drafts are crazy addicting. And can be crazy expensive. I was pretty skilled, but I was only just on the cusp of being able to feed the habit with my winnings, but not quite.

I miss leagues. Almost as fun and much easier on the wallet. Every year or so, I go check to see if they've brought them back, but they never have. Last I read, plans were for 2014. But many people feel like it'll never happen.

Sweet jesus fuck is this the truth. Especially since you can draft ROE and other drafts which aren't m14 and DGR block. Cube is really fun too.

Hearthstone is a fun game, not incredibly difficult but a good way to kill time. The game isn't nearly as complex as mtg but that's perfectly fine, it doesn't need to be to be fun. That said, the inability to play at instant speed reaaally irks me and means almost every t1 deck is some variation of tempo. Even the rogue "control" deck that won the tournament was basically "My removal is cheaper than yours so I can play threats and you can't". Also coin counting as a spell is retarded with combo mechanics.

That being said I'll suck somebody's dick for a beta key.
