So my computer runs hot. The case is small and crammed, and there is a real hotspot in between my gfx card and psu. (The psu pulling the air up and out, the gfx card pushing air upwards) This seems the result of a bit of a bottleneck between the gfx card and the housing for my HDs/Expansion bays. Sure doesn't look like a lot of air would get through there easily. Particularly with all the extra power cables hanging there. Ive done what I can to tie them up, and get them out of the way.
I have room for another fan to be mounted at the bottom rear of my case. I am wondering if I should use it as an intake, or another exhaust. I was thinking intake, only to attempt to create more pressure in the case to help force additional through the bottleneck, helping remove the hot air from between the gfx card and psu. This seems to go against what information Ive been able to find though. What I gather is that usually you would want the rear of the case to be used as an exhaust only.
Im unsure if using the fan as an intake would cause more damage. (Worried about the bottleneck remaining, and all that extra air just being pumped out the front intakes and doing no good at all) The obvious solution, would seem to be just buying a new case that wasnt designed by a fucking monkey. But if I go that route Im going to have to commit to buying a whole new rig. (I need to do that anyhow... but thats another issue in itself)
Does anyone have more experience with this than I? What do you think I should do with that open spot... intake or exhaust?
Edit: I should note that the case doesn't have a fan on the front, pulling air in (nor is there room to install one).
