You ain't missing much. I got my first at the start of nightmare. Some staff with literally no main stats. Just a bunch of random useless junk. Last night I got my second in Act 3 Hell with 5 stacks of NV. A pair of jeans. Not even JK. Jeans. Like 40 Dex and five more lines of uselessness.

Even poking around the AH has failed to show me any Legendary or Set items where I'm like, "Oooo... Want." Blizz screwed this one up pretty good IMO and doesn't seem to even realize it. Yesterday in that huge post, they said "[Legendaries are] just one additional type of item as you level up, and they are not meant to be the primary items you’re chasing at the end-game."

That's just dumb. Obviously you don't want some level 25 Legendary lasting until level 50, but Legendaries should be legendary. They should at least be better than other at level items. Right now all "Legendary" means is "two lines are of a pre-determined type. Not necessairly with better numbers, just pre-determined to be that type."

Yes. A legendary legendary makes more sense than a not-so-legendary legendary. But all the low level not-so-legendary legendary weapons cost next to fuck all on the AH anyhow. Occasionally a not-so-legendary legendary makes a nice upgrade. It makes you feel legendary, even though the weapon itself is a not-so-legendary legendary.

the legendary helms/chest/legs with attack speed are amazing

Problem is that you give up a yellow with 200 of your primary atribute, 100 Vit and whatever other good stats you normally like on your gear to get an orange with 2% attack speed, 30 of your primary stat, no vit and three lines of stuff like 6% gold find.

It IS orange though, so you know - Achievement! yay!

Re: D3 - CAN - 05-29-2012

its more like 15% attack speed, and depending on roll you only lose like ~50 of your primary stat

vit is useless

Re: D3 - Firecrest - 05-29-2012

You must be seeing some really well itemized ones then. But if that's the case, then the problem is randomized Legendaries - the vast majority of them just plain suck.

In D2, the numbers were randomized within a range but properties were static. And even when low, the numbers were still great. In D3, 80% of the properties are randomized and the numbers often fall into a range that makes them decidely un-legendary.

Re: D3 - mascaron - 05-29-2012

not really? Most of the legendaries w/ ias in alternative item slots (bracers, helm, chest, legs, belt) have a set range between 12-15% (some are 12-13, some 14-15).

For example, Andariels Visage do want w/ 129 int and socket random.
Also, not everything is best @ lvl 60. lvl 39 Boj Anglers and lvl 55 FoT are good examples of lower lvl legendaries that are still awesome at 60 for people who want both ms and ias.

As you can see, they come with set abilities, and then just a couple random magic props np.

Re: D3 - Firecrest - 05-30-2012

I'm not saying there are no good Legendaries. I'm saying that there are lots and lots of ones that are bad. And moreover than even that, most Legendaries are not better than other similar level yellows. Legendaries should be legendary. If you're a level 25 caster and you find a level 25 caster Legendary, you should be freaking excited to equip it. You should not find that it's worse than the random yellow you found on the gound three levels ago.

It also feels like the the ratio of un-legendary Legendaries is much higher in D3 than it was in D2 (though I readily admit this could be hazy memory, it's been a year or two since I put much time into D2 last).

If you go to WoWhead's D3 database and just look at all the Legendaries for each slot one slot at a time, it becomes pretty clear that only maybe one out of every four Legendaries would be something you'd actually ever want to equip.

Re: D3 - abecx - 05-30-2012

That is the intended attraction for continual play of Diablo is to find better loot with the right stats on it.

I used to spend hours a week trying to craft incredible gear using rare runes and the horadriac cube.

Re: D3 - lawlerbation the hardcore squatter - 05-30-2012

In diablo 2 there were 2 tiers of unique items that were borderline useless, that is about 2/3rd of the total uniques.

Listening to you guys cry about the game pre inferno was annoying, now having to sit through this about the items being shitty and poorly optimized makes me want to sock you in the dick. Stop complaining because you dont like the games current implementation of "X" either wait for a patch or play something else. There are plenty of people overcoming issues the game has thrown at them and yet you stay here stagnant complaining about it.
