Someone's gonna end up with a typewriter.
Tell them that they're absolutely correct, until you run into a gen ed class like Astronomy that requires 3D modeling tools for the Universe. Then you end up spending more time waiting for things to finish loading/running than you do actually getting results. That sounds pretty valid.

if you really want to go the college route
tell them its one of the suggested laptops for a couple of classes you were thinking of taking and youd rather be prepared then not
or tell them its either the 1grand laptop or 1.5grand mac

Indeed.....what i did was tell my folks that I was taking a elective computer graphics and design class.....and I needed to have a tech heavy laptop
