Latency issues: what do you want to do. - abecx - 01-16-2009 So after getting the default canned response we new we would get form blizzard, I ask everyone, what do you guys want to do. Please vote and give a response so i can see where we stand. I've already lived through one expansion lagged like shit, and I didnt even do all of Naxx, pretty much just AQ40 made me want to kick babies for no reason and then dock them dkp. BC only had 3 guilds raiding at any given time which obviously would make pretty much no lag, with WOTLK 2349872394 guilds are trying to do thaddius and dying. I dont want to even raid normally with this kind of lag and I'm pretty sure the majority of you guys do not want to either. The day Uldauur gets here, were going to be competeting for realm firsts, and I can only imagine how fucking gay its going to be when were having to deal with 3-6 second lag from the server. Quote:For the last several weeks, our players have been experiencing periodic latency in both outdoor Northrend +areas and Naxxramas, and we wanted to provide you with several updates on what we're doing to resolve these Re: Latency issues: what do you want to do. - Crazy Diana - 01-16-2009 many alts might be left behind if we do it by paid transfer and that would most likely make lots of people sad Re: Latency issues: what do you want to do. - silme - 01-16-2009 Ok, I assume that this is fallout from not being able to run immortal two weeks in a row, so let me address that first. As of the time of this post, there are only 44 guilds worldwide who have earned this achievement. http://www.wowprogress.com/achievement/2186 Why is that? Is naxx hard? http://www.wowprogress.com/achievement/575 http://www.wowprogress.com/achievement/ ... /nathrezim Close to 9000 guilds worldwide, 24 of which are on our server downing KT worldwide suggests what many of you would have already said. No, naxx is fucking easy as shit to take out, so why do so few guilds have the immortal achievement? simply put, the lag is everywhere. Not just on our battle group, or server, it literally is everywhere. I would bet that many of the guilds that have done the achievement resorted to the same set of tactics that were used to down thaddius back at level 60. Midnight raids, people in dalaran telling the raid when they have 10 minutes to go before wintersgrasp starts, and spending all week raiding just a few bosses all to get it done. Also, I have done the server transfer thing. I was one of the few people who can claim that they took out KT at level 60. Transferring a guild while it sounds nice requires a huge amount of effort and planning in order to get it done. When you talk about transferring, you are not looking at taking one toon over. Normally its two or three toons so that you have your alts to mine, and support you main, and in this raiding climate not get bored. If the guild as a whole decides to transfer, I would be cool with it, but make sure that there are enough people to raid, and do your homework on the server you want to go to. I doubt that any one of them is really going to be lag free, no matter what the locals tell you. My opinion is that I would be willing to go, but I want to see the target server, and would prefer to wait and see what they do with 3.0.8 with their fix. Re: Latency issues: what do you want to do. - jackslammer - 01-16-2009 There is such little content and it so so early in WoTLK I see transferring as too extreme of a solution. It's disappointing not being able to accomplish achievements that we could only because of lag, however we could clear all the content in the game in six hours, I'd rather just change our raiding hours until the lag gets fixed or suck it up like we have been. Attempting new content with the current latency we are experiencing will be no fun however and if this crap isn't resolved well before Ulduar is ready for live, I'd either want to transfer or quit raiding. Re: Latency issues: what do you want to do. - Firecrest - 01-16-2009 I'm fine with transferring. I have just a couple alts that I'm not very dedicated to and the majority of the people I know and talk to on this realm are in the guild. Nath is a crap server in more regards than just its hardware. A lack of talent and a glut of people who don't understand how to play the game is something we've all complained about for a long time. A clean start on a good server is very appealing. However, I do have to agree with Jack on the timing. Blizz has promised to fix the lag with 3.0.8. At the very least, we should give them a chance to do so. I would not want to transfer just because of the Immortal title. That is something we can work around the lag for. However, if Uldar starts to draw near and we're facing the same issues, there's no way in hell I will want to stick around here. I want to be fighting for server firsts. Not fighting lag. Re: Latency issues: what do you want to do. - Hitshade - 01-16-2009 Ive had the displeasure of playing on this server for 3 years. Personally, Id love to see latency below my Nath standard 230ms. A nice 50ms like I get on just about any other fucking server would be a bonus. Im just not sure a transfer is the right solution to the problem at hand. I could see a couple of potential issues with moving. The first being, as previously mentioned, the lag problems are widespread and Blizzard apparently knows what is causing them. I imagine it would be hard to guarantee wlph wouldn't run into the same thing elsewhere. The shear number and size of "OMG LAG" posts on the forums pretty much confirms the problem isn't just a matter of aging hardware. If part of the problem is based on server population, that leads to the second problem. Transferring to a new / low pop server may alleviate the current issues, but could leave wlph in a position where there would be little to no competition. There's no joy to be had in server firsts if there isn't a decent number of people striving for them. (Although Id go as far as to say Nathrezim almost suffers from that particular problem already.) The alternative would be world rankings, but to seriously place often requires an immense amount of effort. Constant PTR play, incredibly long and often strenuous raiding hours/times, etc. A great number of wlph's members seem to have healthy social lives that wouldn't lend well to that type of super-hardcore raiding. ... TL;DR? I don't think it matters what we do, it might be better to wait and see if Blizz fixes this shit. Re: Latency issues: what do you want to do. - doodah - 01-16-2009 I would not mind at all leaving this server, however I agree with Alyse/Jack about giving this patch a shot and/or switch up raid times. But if it continues after the "fix" I think we should move on. Re: Latency issues: what do you want to do. - mascaron - 01-16-2009 ya at least at first I'd liek to try a Naxx raid late one night. A large portion of people play quite late into the evenings already.. But if that doesn't make it better.. and it's not fixed in 3.0.8 There's no point staying on Nath. I loved raiding in BC because it was pretty much lag free. Hell, raiding has been kind of alright in wrath too.. a couple lagged fights here and there but generally a-ok. A Naxx on a Thursday was lagged on every single fight tho? That's bullshit. The first wing was fun, then the lag hit and lasted for the rest of the instance. The level of fun dropped instantly.. I had no desire to finish it.. and I don't really want to go back until 3.0.8 Re: Latency issues: what do you want to do. - Ethax - 01-17-2009 Raiding late is not a solution either "some people have jobs" and while I wouldn't wanna raid with anyone else I'm not gonna be raiding at 1 AM in the morning either. This game isn't that important. I really don't know what you mean by "later". Re: Latency issues: what do you want to do. - abecx - 01-17-2009 10pm server to 11:30 ish |
