@Transferring - Burlock - 01-28-2009

How many of you plan on xferring alts if we do in fact xfer? I was thinking of bringing over Integro my lil Negro warrior. The problem is, idk how long we would stay on that server if we xferred there. What if we get there and realize it's not greater than nath? I've been on like 20 servers with this character and I actually like Nathrezim the most.

If the guild transfers, I do plan to transfer burlock over. But I don't want to have to pay for 2 transfers back to Nathrezim if we change our minds. Do you think we are going to stay on Scilla if we go there? Maybe there is a reason it is a low pop server.

i wouldnt mind moving crazyyd but i wont be moving my alts

Re: @Transferring - Sharfalma - 01-28-2009

I am honestly really torn between staying or going. I have been playing this game since early 2005 and I've always been on this server. There are probably ~50 people I know from school, work, etc, who play this game on Nath with me. My entire high school all played on Nath a few years back when the game first came out. We all decided to play on the same server together and for the most part everyone who still plays is here. Not to mention the four years worth of friendships and memories I have built and maintained on this server. I've only been in a handful of guilds and I always made the commitment to stay with them.

Also, I have quite a few alts, and while I can honestly say I don't play them all that often, I would definitely want them all on the same server. Transferring Shar means transferring about 5 other characters with her. Plus there's the chance that this new server ends up being just as bad, if not worse, than Nath. I know people there say they don't have that many problems with latency and it's low pop, but at the same time, us going there is definitely adding to that population no? On top of that, I enjoy a heavily populated server. The whole point of an MMO is to feel like you're part of a living society. Nath has its fair share of tards but there are a lot of cool people here. Going into IF last night to find half a dozen people in trade chat made me sad. As much as I like 'you people', I'm worried that the 40 or so of us would literally be playing this game by ourselves. May as well just all play on a private server if all we care about is the PvE content.

Speaking of which, the best part of raiding to me is the competition. The whole point of clearing Sunwell and looking badass in full t6 was that only a handful of other people could do it. Being that lead figure and constantly dueling with other top end guilds for the title "server first" is a huge part of the experience for me. Why work hard to clear things first when no one else even cares/acknowledges our achievements but us? Seems like it'd be nothing but a circle jerk over there.

Despite all of this, I really do enjoy all of your company and want to stick it out with everyone. I know I don't really talk that much on Vent and therefore people might not have as good of a perception about me as I'd like, but I hope my presence in our raids is felt as much as I'd like to think it is. I know if I didn't transfer I would probably stop raiding and only play an hour a week to talk to my friends. Subsequently, I know that if I did transfer I would probably just as soon sever all contacts with Nath, as I really wouldn't have the time or patience to log back and forth just to see who's online.

The point is, I'm sort of damned if I do damned if I don't. I play the game to raid. I raid for the thrill of the content and the thrill of competition. Transferring will probably remedy the lag and let me raid, but the purpose of raiding, for the competition, will also die with it. I have a metric assload of friends and memories on Nath and it has been my home since day 1. At the same time, I'd be saying good bye to an entire guild that I've been with for over half a year now, if my math is correct. What's a shadow priest to do?

TOOLONGDIDNTREAD

but seriously all ive heard is that more and more guilds are xfering there .. death wish number 1 horde some time ago .. and numerous others .. if we do xfer theres going to be competition. but i dont know how much "better" its going to be in the long run

Re: @Transferring - Firecrest - 01-28-2009

I have trouble imagining that it could ever be any worse than Nath. I mean... Forget just the lag in the instances - sometimes we can't fucking even get in them in the first place. How could any server be worse than that? If, for some unknown reason, we decided that Scylla wasn't working out - I sure as hell wouldn't advocate coming back to this God forsaken server.

The promise is there that the new server will be better than the old one. There's at least a chance. There's no chance at all that things here are going to improve. 3.0.8 (and all its promised "fixes") has come out. And it changed nothing for us. The likelihood of them doing more is slim to none. You like how things are now? Cause it sure as hell ain't changing. And let's not forget that Uldar is on the horizon. How great of a raiding experience do you think that's gonna be?

For me, this certainly isn't about one achievement. It's actually not even about log-in queues, instance failure or even the shit that goes on every time we step into Naxx. It's about what I've been looking forward to since we steamrolled Naxx for the first time two months ago and I went, "Wait... This is it? What now?" I want a good environment for Uldar. And Nath is not going to give that to us.

Sharf:
Competition on that server will be stiff. As stated, Death Wish is one of the top Horde guilds in the world. There's also a thread up on their server forums where people have posted interest in transferring. Several guilds have listed pretty impressive resumes. End game raiding will be anything but lax over there.
