Raiding Breakdown - abecx - 04-17-2009

Tuesday - 2 hours - 1 boss
Wedensday - 5 hours - 4 bosses
Thursday - 6 hours - 3 bosses

Really not that bad, maybe if we didnt have so many people with fucking jobs.

Wotlk turned a lot of decent, dedicated raiders into lazy, unmotivated raiders.

Went 5 months raiding one or two nights a week, for less than our allotted raid time. People got used to encounters that required next to no thought or effort. They got used to blazing through content in a matter of hours.

Some people seem to have forgotten what progression raiding is really like, others may never have experienced it to begin with. It seems some individuals become all too willing to leave, or move on to something that "might" be easier if a boss doesn't drop after 4 attempts. (Banging heads against a bugged Ignis doesn't count. Anyone that thinks spending hours and hours to down a bugged boss could be considered an accomplishment is a complete fucking retard... but its fixed to the point of being killed now anyhow)

Im not taking a shot at anyone, it just seems to me that this is what happened. Im sure I cant be the only one with these opinions.

Maybe if we didn't have people taking random 30 min afk breaks, not repairing when told, "my UI isn't set up" etc. Our raid efficiency is terrible at the moment and I think this reflects on what Tyrul said.

Actually on the topic of UI related issues:

I know a lot of people, enable/disable certain mods while raiding. I highly suggest http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info8530-Ampere.html

Its an incredibly small (50k) addon that mirrors the button on the log-in screen, in game. It allows you to enable and disable mods on the fly without the need to log out, wasting more time than necessary.

http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7532-ForteXorcistForteWarlock.html
I know a lot of people miss classtimers (idk if it has been updated at this point or not). This mod works just fine. It has a slew of options over and above simple spell timers (incl cooldown timers, etc) but uses roughly the same amount of memory. I switched over to this after seeing just how fucked classtimer was on the ptr and I dont see myself going back any time soon. It was originally designed for warlocks, so there are a lot of additional modules that other classes will probably want to disable but overall I have really come to love this mod.

If you have the patience, http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info8579-PowerAurasClassic.html is another great alternative. It can be set up to monitor and provide visual cues for cooldowns, spelltimers, procs, trinkets, etc etc etc.

Finally, some of us with less than stellar computers will notice that some unit frame addons are disgusting memory pigs that will destroy fps. I suggest http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info9994-oUF.html with http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11078-oUF_Nivaya.html. These unit frame addons use incredibly tiny amounts of memory. The general drawback to most oUF layouts is that the only way to modify them is through editing lua. oUF_Nivaya is one of the only oUF layouts that offers in game customization. Due to its basic nature, it isnt for everyone. However, if you need a unit frame mod that wont bog you down during raids you should give it a try.

(I know Im rehashing a lot of shit from the UI thread, but if these will assist some people, it cant hurt)

Re: Raiding Breakdown - abecx - 04-18-2009

We had a little discussion about where we are currently at as far as boss kills. I honestly think were doing just fine, I mean even if we stepped it up with no afkers and had plenty of people replacing people we'd maybe be 1 boss ahead from the 2 hours we woudl've saved. The only way to really be further along ( aka done ) would be to raid more than we have. Our atmosphere is second to none, and were almost done so dont expect drastic changes ( yet ). Next content patch we can mass recruit and be ready do more PTR if thats what we want to do.

After we're done, its time for hard modes/achievements. We need to talk about how we plan on going about getting them completed. ( i.e. one a week per boss ).

Re: Raiding Breakdown - geng - 04-18-2009

we can determine how long it would take to do a normal clear and do hard modes the rest of the raid week. either ramp up hard modes (sarth 1 drake to 2 drake etc) or just go for the hardest. some hard modes are just dps checks like deconstructer and hodir those i dont think we should shoot for it should come around naturally as we gear up.
