I vaguely remember owning a 3D Studio Max book that I had to buy for college. We never used it, I don't think. Best way to learn Max is just to dick around with it. Treat it like tanking or some shit, getting aggro on verts and blowing cooldowns during skinning/rigging. Oh and be sure and hold threat on the damn poly counts, those things can get out of control reeeeaaal fast.
