Monks are fine Alyse. All classes seem pretty well balanced and I feel the difficulties are about right, the beginning of Hell can be rough if you just hit 50 and are using level 40-50 gear as can Inferno if you're not in all 60 gear.

Myself (Wizard) and a Monk two manned our way through Hell and to 60 pretty easily, we one shot all the bosses and got the easy achievements. We skipped about one out of every five elite packs because of retarded combos that were a waste of time and would've just turned into gold sinks while we slowly drained their health in between revives. We also killed about one in every five treasure goblins we encountered, we mostly lost them because his ally would pull before we were ready or the treasure goblin would run through packs of elites that jailed or walled us or something lame.

I'm much more inclined to level another character than tackle Inferno for the time being, it's the largest jump in difficulty and requires nothing but gear since level is capped. Damn fun game though.

Ya after playing some of Inferno I have to say melee has it rough, especially Barbarians. Anything up to Inferno is definitely doable by any class though. I didn't even start using Force Armor until Inferno and Hell wasn't that hard and I two manned most of it with a Monk.

I'm probably just going to go as far as I can on the Monk since I really like it. I'll be really disappointed if I can't at least do most of Hell. With any luck, I'll be tired of Monk by then and won't feel quite so pissed off about being forced to roll a Wizard. Or maybe I'll get really lucky and Blizz will add some balance or there will be ways for me to gear into viability.

I wonder how much of a difference it makes to be soloing vs having a partner when doing the harder content. Is one easier than the other, or are they roughly the same?

Monster Scaling by Difficulty and Players
Here is how monsters scale per player in each difficulty:

Normal - 75% Health; 0% XP; 0% Damage
Nightmare - 85% Health; 0% XP; 5% Damage
Hell - 95% Health; 0% XP; 10% Damage
Inferno - 110% Health; 0% XP; 15% Damage

Also magic find is averaged in a group while gold find is individual.

The actual difficult parts of d2 required specialty builds and play styles, what makes any of those complaining think they found "the" build and/or play style to match with their current challenges? Before you jump shit on a character or call foul of balance issues, why dont you l2play?

You're talking out your ass about something you know nothing about like you have a clue. Hell, you don't even have a clue about the game you DID play. You didn't get through the hard parts of D2 with special builds. You got through them by joining the MF boss runs of some higher level character over and over and over again until you out-leveled the content. Then you did your own MF runs.

You can't do that in D3. But you wouldn't know that, now would you?

Nightmare pony level runs... gained many lvls just tagging along until I was high enough to cunt-in-you poking away at quests...

I was doing shit damage (explained why i couldn't continue poking at quests in NM mode) until I swapped my awesome witch-doctor dagger for a shitty 89+Int 79damage sword.... then gained another nutload by equipping a 7%+ IAS and 16+ dmg gloves...

Suffice it to say, the smurfs are no longer living a merry life.

Not really worried (or talking) about Nightmare. I think any issues one might have there really are l2p problems. My concern is with late Hell and Inferno, where you reach the level cap and all the Pony Runs in the world won't change the fact that you're level 60 and all the mobs are 63.

Also, WTF pony level. I'm conflicted there. I mean, on one hand, that gay MLP shit is worse than pandas (fuck pandas). But, on the other hand, you do get to kill them which could be very gratifying. So, I don't know.
