DKP INFO - TROPHIES OF THE CRUSADE

Up until now, I've been charging 1/2 DKP for Main and 1/4 DKP for Off on Trophies of the Crusade. We've spent the last two weeks giving them mostly to off specs and while we haven't "sharded" any of them yet, it's getting close. I don't like the fact that there are some people I never see roll on these. I know some classes have sub-optimal tier gear, but I'm pretty sure it's not possible that EVERY tier piece of yours is bad. I'm also concerned many people aren't comfortable spending DKP on an item they can get in 10man for free.

Edit: Note that there will be a bit of "Firecrest's Discretion" thrown into these going forward. I will be asking to make sure you have the badges available or will soon. I will not be giving the same person more than a couple in one raid. I will give them to frequent offspecs over trials and secondary raiders. I can't treat these the way we normally have done "free" items in the past (which is to give it to the person who wants it who has the highest DKP) because then the same person could get every single one of them from a raid just by virtue of having top DKP. If I make a call and you don't like it, suck it up and wait for the next boss. Normally I'm open to discussion about this kind of stuff, but these just drop way to frequently for us to be holding up the raid while someone whines about not getting it.

So starting next week (or with our HM Anub kill), I'll be reducing their cost:

Main Spec - 1/4 DKP
Off Spec - FREE

considering that they drop in 10m which is dkp free youd have to be an idiot to blow your dkp on them

why not make them free like they should be

because waiting 5 weeks for you to get them for 'free' isnt worth it when they drop in the main raids.

I probably will eventually. But not everyone goes to the 10 mans, even though they should. Continuing to charge DKP is an incentive for those people to get off their asses and go. Further, 1/4 NORMAL MODE DKP is a pittance for a guaranteed trophy. At best 10 man gives you a 2/5 shot per week. I've spent my own DKP three times on Trophies (one of which came before the DKP split when it cost me 1/2 of my Ulduar DKP!) even though I'm in a 10 man group that has gotten all 4 Trophies every week we've gone. I feel that the spent DKP is worth it. It's not like I'm asking anyone to do anything that I wouldn't do myself.

In all seriousness though... I only "need" all of 4 items. A belt, a new weapon and two new trinkets. So long as actual clothies aren't rolling offspec I'm not going to take their belts from them as it isn't the world biggest upgrade for me, and we haven't seen the blade off HM beasts or any trinkets in a long while.

I could pick up a few select items for an offspec, but I'm not going to waste my dkp for another spec I have never once been asked to use when my main spec gear isn't yet completed. TBH, I would like to retire my druid at some point and focus on another toon. While this may be difficult to accommodate, I also don't really want to feel I took a wealth of gear for a toon I want to shelve.

I would also assume dkp is going to reset come 3.3, which cant be that far off at this point. Given that, I would rather see trials get geared out in preparation for icecrown.
