Normally I'd be more asinine about such things. But I've come to a couple conclusions about our app process. First is that no one takes care of them. We almost never give an app a definitive answer as to whether or not they are welcome to trial. Mostly we just make fun of them and that’s as far as it goes. This is stupid. Even terrible apps have the right to a yes or no. Since no one else steps up to this task, I’ll start doing it. However, I don’t know everything about every single class. To that end, I wait a little while for a semi-decent comment like Talith’s or just make a judgment call on my own with the information I have. If anyone feels the need to bitch because I let in someone they don’t think I should have, they can feel free to put in the little bit of effort it takes to constructively critique an app rather than bitching after the fact.
My second realization is that we are too hard on our apps. The trial period is the time where we can give a potential new member hell and see how they take it. The app process should just be a reality check to make sure that they meet the basic requirements of raiding. Are you literate, can you show up 90% of the time, is your armory halfway decent, and do you understand that we are an offensive bunch of asshats? The trial period is when we see if you can actually play your class and put up with our asshattery.
My plan is to err on the side of bringing a bad into the raid that is swiftly demoted as opposed to the current process of pretty much doing nothing ever and never getting any new recruits.
Thanks for your concern though, Crazy.

Legit concerns crucible, if you want to head up team effort then by all means, the problems is there isnt anyone that has enough care anymore to do all of that ( that I know of ), we would rather just cry about it for 8 hours during our raid times then spend 8 hours after raid time to do it per week.
Its not a cynical or sarcastic response. I wish I could do it, I just cant be apart of team effort outside of what I already do from raid time

I do agree that one of our biggest issues is keeping trials, wait-listing them, keeping them in the loop, getting them in as much as possible, setting up swaps during trash, etc. so they don't feel ignored and leave and when were short we have no replacements.

I agree but being hard on them now saves them the time and money of transferring and them not realizing what they got into. A lot of the app process is so automated with the template and such that in-depth replies aren't even necessary.

I side on that as well and I appreciate your intentions. We should have more officers chiming in on apps and we should be more honest to apps and tell them they won't be raiding if they transfer or that we already have four rogues or mages or that they need to get more experience or gear before joining our raids.

Honestly if they are something we could use or they don't check off on everything I list as required in the template, I don't even bother replying. If they can't take the time to read and comprehend what I wrote in the template than I won't bother replying to their app. Specifically what masc added to the app template about a year ago.
What can we do to fix it? I don't think there is a real issue with responses to apps just we are getting inexperienced and under-geared apps of classes we don't need right now. We can have specific officers always have a final word after a certain number of responses and we could lock threads. Adding a demand thread may help a bit as well. I just don't have many ideas to fixing our recruiting process, and our recrewtment forum only consists of a small fraction of our recruits anyhow.
