Too late at this point. The economy's fucked. Upgrades for my gear are in the 50-100 Mill range (each!) and, thanks to Blizzard, my gold farming capability is about 200k/hour.

I’m not sure how it got so out of control so fast. I assume it’s the gold farmers. You can buy 10m gold for $20. My guess is that tons of people did just that and the value of gold deflated radically. Blizzard came in and fixed it, but it was way too late. The damage was done. At this point, all the gold farming fixes have done is drawn a huge, uncrossable line between the people who managed to get good gear early and the people who are trying to get it now.

The only real solution I can think of is more supply. If gear starts dropping in greater quantities, it can drive down prices to a more reasonable range. However, the downside to that is that you end up “beating” the game faster (getting to the point where you’ve done all you can with your character and move on). Additionally, from Blizzard’s standpoint, you also end up losing a lot of revenue from the RMAH.

Yeah the economy is fucked 3 weeks into the game unless they do something drastic real soon its not getting fixed. Your options are find your BiS shit or drop money on gold to buy it.

Glad I got my gear early. But at the same time, the game is not really fun to play anymore. What's the point? I can put in 80-100 hours of play time and maybe upgrade one piece of gear by a little bit. That's not even close to worthwhile. I could start an alt, but I already know I'd just get stuck early in Inferno due to no gear. I could buy gold/gear but the game's just not worth it in its current state.

Right now, I'm just upgrading gems. I've got eight, so it will take a little while. Hopefully they've done something by the time I'm done. If not... I dunno. I'll probably just be done.

I think what you might not be factoring in Alyse, in a few more weeks, the expensive gear will come do in price because of attrition. It wont happen over night, but gear in the game isnt soulbound and people typically dont go around sharding amazing gear when they can make money/gold on it. After a while when even more powerful gear is found, the decent gear now will be much cheaper.

its like dragonball z. Super Sayian 1 and some of SSj2 gear is around, but soon SSj3 gear will be more abundant and the gear to kill cell and freeza will be much cheaper.
