not nearly as long as you wasted grinding LK. I quit 5 months ago, if I didn't quit, WLPH still wouldn't of killed LK until recently.

Not saying that we would have. If you think I’m blaming the struggle we had to down this boss solely on you, you’re giving yourself way too much credit. It was you and a dozen or so other people who deserted because things got rough. But you do shoulder more of the blame than almost anyone else who left. In a way that’s a compliment. More than just robbing us of a legendary, you were top DPS and could be counted on not to do anything stupid. You were a good player who we eventually replaced with an alright player. That a dozen times over is why we didn’t kill Litch King months ago.

I never blame individuals for quitting even if they just got a legendary that they have earned, because player turnover is just part of raiding and how well a guild can combat player turnover really determines a lot about how that guild will progress. We lost several excellent players along the way to this achievement, some with warning like Lorake, some in packs like teenage girls going to the bathroom like Cahn, Ghost, Mini, and Voke, some to more progressed guilds like Tay, and some with Shadowmournes like Gemg.

We also gained several excellent players along the way and the performance of the players that we recruit, the quality of our other runs (such as PUGs), the communication between CLs and the players in those other runs, keeping the players that are interested in and on the sidelines of our raids in guild and capable, the amount of alts and off-specs raiders can competently play, etc. all help combat the inevitable player turnover.

Perhaps "blame" is the wrong word. But the cause of our struggles was due overwhelmingly to the diminished quality of our raid caused by player turnover.

It's a fine line, I suppose. WoW is a game and it's meant to be fun. And if you're not having fun, then what's the point of playing the game? But at the same time, I think it's only decent that people feel a sense of obligation to the people who (hopefully) are their friends in this game. On top of that, I think it's indicative of a deep character flaw when people quit when the going gets tough only to come back on brighter days. I just think there's something wrong with that.

you can bridge the gap between success and failure even with a non ideal composition of players with proper leadership that organizes the encounter, effectively communicates raid objectives and individual objectives of the encounter, and effectively micromanages where micromanaging is warranted in order to achieve sufficient execution.

if you have a lot of a-class raiders with brain cells, you can tone down the micromanaging. 6 months of brick wall dick ramming was due to shortcomings of both of those factors not just the shortage of players.
