Not saying that we would have. If you think I’m blaming the struggle we had to down this boss solely on you, you’re giving yourself way too much credit. It was you and a dozen or so other people who deserted because things got rough. But you do shoulder more of the blame than almost anyone else who left. In a way that’s a compliment. More than just robbing us of a legendary, you were top DPS and could be counted on not to do anything stupid. You were a good player who we eventually replaced with an alright player. That a dozen times over is why we didn’t kill Litch King months ago.
This boss is the kind of shit that kills guilds. Like it has been said, its part of the "hard" progression, its a wall you have to bash yourself against, that makes a lot of people comfortable in their farm mode just to stop showing up. This is how the problems begin, you have to replace the slackers first, and replacements have to learn, and unfortunately in this encounter every single mistake from ANY person usually means a wipe.
So now you are wiping while training newcomers, you start wearing off other players and some of you (you being all readers of this forum) feel like the ultimate shit in their class, and don't get me wrong, yeah you guys are really good players, but you decided your god complex and savior skills were above the raid, that you deserved better than just wiping because of "bads and noobs" and quit for whatever reason (we had people like this quit all along the way, at different times and months not just "at the start"). If you really are that good you would be in a better guild, if anything 2 persons proved this: Tay and Keylogger, you may say whatever about guild loyalty and I also consider that an important part of the guild players but we are stating facts here.
So now you have lost slackers AND good players, their replacements not only will make mistakes while learning, but also won't be as good as who they replaced so the raid performance overall is starting to go down. This is the place where we stood for many many months and the combo of new people that didn't had dedication, or were just learning and making mistakes, the frustration of the ones that were always there dying to the same shit led us to "if its not Tuesday we cant even fill a raid". We burned out people like Rootbear and like Jack said, it's a game and if he was not having fun then he has all the reason to go do something else.
By this point another percentage of players are just now showing up because of the compromise to the guild, they are not quitters, but they don't really care and aren't performing at top level and remember, this fight is unforgiving and little distractions can also cause wipes. Add this with the previous problems and with the overall lack of interest since the next expansion is coming, the fact that we have been raiding the same place for a year... no way to kill this boss this way. I know It will be a while since i can finish my shards because during cata there is no way people will want to do ICC and I understand them, it was just too long doing the same raid over and over.
There was a point where we were not even trying, but there were several of us that wanted the kill, not for the loot or progression, but because we want to "finish" the game, complete the challenge, prove that a fucking AI is no better than us. We were not enough so we got help from other players that also wanted that kill in their alts and thankfully had geared them and know their shit (eliminating our "new blood will make mistakes" problem.
The fact is, this past sundays instead of 15 ppl showing up and realizing we won't do squat we would instead see everyone logging on and ready to bash our heads. Some of us knew casual showing up would not magically turn this into a kill and last Sunday there was a point where I thought we were not going to get pass phase 2.
Then the kill came.
You can argue about leadership, you can argue some of the players that currently raid are not top notch, but I think a lot of you guys have forgot just how BAD it can be. Go see other guilds that can't even GET to 11/12 hard modes, go see realms where they can hardly complete a normal mode.
In here we can grab our alts for fun any given Friday and perform like a TOP guild in a "PUG". There is a shitload of talent, both in Scilla as a realm and in WLPH's current and past roster, sadly, there is also a lot of ego.
The fact is, several of us worked our asses, wiped and wiped, showed up for nothing some days but in the end got help and made that last push and got a well deserved achievement. The kill is there and the guild is still here, grats guys.
Furly will transfer three days. From now on, 3 days, within three days he will transfer.
