Holy shit, I can read signs on the highway and shit that I couldn't even read before with glasses.

There's a humongous freaking red blotch on the white part of my right eye, but I don't give a shit, it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

I'm gonna try leveling my Shaman today and see how long I can spend on a computer at a time. If it seems to work, I should be fine. If not, well I'd be in trouble anyway since I have to be on a computer for 8 hours a day at work anyway. xD

I had a double astigmatism in one of my eyes, single in the other. (gone now).

I'd get glasses, and then I'd be able to see perferctly .. for about 2-3 months.

Insurance wouldn't authorize another appointment for a year, and eventually dropped it to every 2 years. So I went about 80% of the time without being able to see that stuff.

Astigmatism describes how the eye is shaped, so unless you got an eye transplant with that LASIK, your eyes are still non-spherical. Astigmatism may have been a problem in the past for eyesight correction, but nowadays glasses are easy to make. It's just a different lens shape (usually thicker to allow a more concave shape) to correct the elongation of the eye.

If your eyesight is changing that much (2-3 months), you shouldn't have had LASIK. You're supposed to wait until your prescription stops getting worse because that means your eyes have stopped changing. Enjoy your good eyesight without glasses while it lasts.

Astigmatism is an irregularity in the cornea. It's not the entire eye. On my left eye, there was a portion over the very center that was too far out. That got shaved down, which can be done if your corneas are thick enough (i.e you aren't diabetic and don't have glaucoma.)

LASIK or Lasik (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a type of refractive surgery for correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

My prescription settled 1.5 years ago at the last eye exam (got it rechecked for this and was not different). I'd gotten my last pair of glasses prior. Previous insurance didn't let me get an exam less than every 2 years, so there was a gap in there.. didn't realize at the time that Tricare was dumping me onto their dumb reduced eye care thing and went for an annual, only to be told when I called to authorize the visit/glasses that I wasn't allowed to go yet. Could still see out of the ones I had so I said fuck it.


Why would I pay the entire cost for frames and lenses (which I paid a copay on anyway) when my job gives me insurance? o_O; Also lol, no cheap places around where I lived for that crap, and I had to use 'authorized' optometrists and shops.

And.. I paid out of pocket for this.. was about 3600. :/ Insurance wouldn't cover it since it's not necessary and cosmetic (though they do cover the medicine.)
