• Signature spell: Pyroblast
  
• Spec Bonus: Fire Specialization - Increases damage of your Fire spells by 25%.
  
• Mastery: Flashburn - All DOT spells deal (1200 + 25x)/1000 (20% + 2.5% more for every point of mastery) times damage, where x is your mastery.
  
  
• Glyphs: Prime: Fireball, Molten Armor, Pyroblast Major: Evocation + two others

• Stats Preference: Choose gear based on the following list. See this EJ post for more information as this is dependant on your gear level. That is, if you are using this list to gear up your 346 blues, you are probably not going to get the results you expect - it's best to use Rawr to determine your precise relative ratings.
  
  
• Intellect: Intellect is by far our best stat, even above hit. This is because we get Mana, Crit, and Spellpower from intellect. Since it provides so many goodies, we aggressively gem and enchant for Int at the exclusion of other stats.
  
  
• Hit: You need a certain amount of hit to be able to never miss your spells. Hit is very valuable, though not as much as Intellect. Typically once you get a few pieces of raiding gear, you'll be able to make the hit cap easier.
  
  
• Spell Power: Found on weapons. Not much of a choice to use it or not. After this things get a little bit blurry.
  
  
• Haste and Crit: Tied. Both Crit and Haste are very useful to fire mages since the mana cost of Fireball has been reduced significantly. At very high gear levels, haste is better than Crit and Mastery, but it may not be applcable to your gear level and the content that you are attempting. See the link in the beginning of the section for the best stats breakdown for your gear level.
  
  
• Mastery: Mastery is an average stat. In general, you'll want to reforge your Mastery to more valuable stats if possible based on the above priority.
  
  
• Playstyle: Fire is characterized by a combination of mobility with a priority system for DPS. Mana management was important for fire mages, and may be on the occasional long/AoE heavy/missed Evocation fight - so having Scorch when talented is a free spell that we can cast on the move and does roughly 90% of our Fireball DPS rotation. We use Molten Armor because it provides 5% crit and mobile Scorch.
  
  
• Movement: We can use everything in our rotation while we are moving except for fireball, and as such we can do ~90% of our damage on the move. Since Cataclysm boss fights include tons of movement, scorch is very valuable for fire mages. However, Fireball is still higher DPS overall, so we'll want to cast Fireball when there are favorable circumstances.
  
  
• Mana Management: Make sure you get 100% out of your Evocation, and be prepared to switch to a Scorch rotation if you are not confident that you will have enough mana during burn phases or when the boss goes below 35%.
  
  
• AoE: There are lots of add-based fights in Cataclsym so Fire shines when we have AoE opportunities because of Combustion and Impact. Use Combustion when you have all your dots (Living Bomb, Pyroblast) as well as a very big Ignite proc from a critical Fireball or Pyroblast. Then spread it using Impact - if you don't have Impact up, you can fish for a proc using Blastwave preferably or Flamestrike. This does a LOT of AoE damage so be prepared to use Invisibility or Mirror Images to save yourself.
  
  
• Rotation: Whenever it is off cooldown, use Flame Orb. The priority system after that is Living Bomb > Hot Streak > Fireball/Scorch. When you have Living Bomb, Pyroblast, and a big (post Fireball or Pyroblast crit) Ignite up on the target, use Combustion and Impact if applicable. It's not a race to use combustion.
  
  
• Addons: A very useful fire mage addon is Combustion Helper which tracks your DoT effects on the target so you can better judge a time for combustion.
  
  
• Extra Credit: For raiding - much more detailed info can be found in the EJ Fire Mage Compendium.

He's reforging to crit when he should be doing haste instead.

The following logs are from attempt 4. Take a look at the number of fireballs that hit and crit. It's fairly obvious it's a gear problem as well.

he is reforged the way he is supposed 2... feet and hand enchant are wrong but dont make a big dif... This is simply a crit issue loosing 7% crit on both ur main spells and 2% on the rest is kinda big... its an ez fix
