Janet Howell (D-Fairfax) attached an amendment that would require men to have a rectal exam and a cardiac stress test before obtaining a prescription for erectile dysfunction medication.

Ohio state Sen. Nina Turner (D-Cleveland) will introduce a bill aimed at cracking down on prescription drugs like Viagra that treat erectile dysfunction. Turner’s legislation would make men jump through certain hoops such as psychological screenings and be fully informed of the risks involved in taking these drugs and also the alternatives such as natural remedies or also celibacy before they could obtain the meds.

The irony is that, while both are publicity stunts and/or aimed at defeating their attached bills, they both promote good ideas. Whether or not the government should be in charge of making us do the things we ought to have the brains to do on our own is another matter, of course. Let the stupid die out IMO.

(Reuters) - A plan to place a bust in the Missouri Capitol of Rush Limbaugh, the conservative broadcaster embroiled in controversy over his calling a university student a "slut" on the air, has upset local Democrats who are trying to block the effort.

The bust of Limbaugh, proposed by Republican state House Speaker Steve Tilley, would sit alongside prominent Missouri natives such as writer Mark Twain and former president Harry Truman in the Capitol rotunda.

Missouri Democratic U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, who was once called "a commie babe liberal" by Limbaugh, said she opposed honoring him.

"I draw the line," at putting Limbaugh's bust in the Capitol, McCaskill told MSNBC on Monday.
