Some information about how DKP will work for WotLK

DKP will be greatly reduced and adjusted from your current lifetime DKP; I often remove people from DKP that leave guild or don't raid for months, so don't expect to have any DKP at the start of WotLK unless you have been doing Sunwell with us recently and often. However the DKP will so reduced for WotLK that new members and returning raiders will quickly catch up (probably within a single raid).

The first raid that DKP will be awarded is the first week of December (Tuesday, December 2nd).

DKP AWARD VALUES
Boss first kill - 25
Boss repeat kill - 10

Since I have the option to award DKP for recurring time spent in an instance rather than award a flat value for trash I've decided to award 5 DKP every hour beginning @ 6PM ST to encourage people to be on time and an additional 5 DKP when the raid ends.

Waitlist will be kept track of the same way it is now, with the addon called Waitlist that I use. I will be awarding about 1/2 of what we get for a boss (so 15 for a first boss kill and 5 for a repeat boss kill) and no recurring timed DKP. You must be a member or higher rank in guild to be eligible for wait list and you must be available and ready to join the raid at any time, if we attempt to bring you and and you aren't responsive or we can't reach you, you will be removed from wait list and receive no DKP for the raid.

ITEM COST VALUES
As it currently stands we will continue to use the 0.5 (1/2) DKP for main spec and 0.25 (1/4) DKP for offspecs and trash epics. Librams, relics, and idols will continue to be free. BoP crafted item patterns cost 1/4 DKP and BoE crafted patterns will be stored in the guild bank and selectively distributed as well as crafting materials.

I have thought of implementing item costs based on the item budget of specific slots, thus making a 2H weapon more DKP than a ring, this would be more like an EPGP system but would require more time to do loot and calculate DKP. However if I did implement this system, with the go ahead form officers and Abe, it would look like;

Main spec gear will use a ratio according to Blizzard’s item slot values, as such.
Head, Chest, Legs, 2H Weapon 0.50 (1/2)
Shoulder, Hands, Waist, Feet 0.375 (3/8)
Wrist, Neck, Back, Finger, Off-hand/Shield 0.2825 (9/32)
1H weapon 0.2109 (27/128)
Ranged 0.1582 (81/512)
Off spec gear and trash epics will be ½ of the aforementioned values.

I have my bitches about our DKP system, and I have made threads and brought up the issue of DKP several times, it's even how I ended up doing DKP. I'm always trying to improve the system to be as fair and balanced as possible. I improved DKP greatly from when Mattc did it by keeping track of a full history and lifetime DKP. I also can award and see DKP real time in raid rather than alt tabbing and checking my napkin.

I'm always seeking dialog about the current DKP system, what do you think should be changed and what do you like about our DKP system?

I for one find our DKP system the best that I've seen, but far from perfect if there is such a system. I will be continuing to use WebDKP and my handy TI-89 and look forward to doing DKP for WotLK for WLPH

And I greatly appreciate Alyse stepping up and doing DKP when I was absent, I hope he is up for it in WotLK.

It will be around 1-5% of your lifetime DKP with WLPH, I might use some standard deviation as well.

Not trying to single anyone out, alot of people did it i'm sure, but there should be a penalty for not trying to take upgrades in order to guarantee a item later on. now passing on items cause it's a massive upgrade for another to benefit the raid is one thing, but hording DKP to get a item off the last boss just results in players being undergeared for w/e content is being worked upon.

This is a huge concerned I had with Avanne whoring DKP for a Memento. I agree a player should take every upgrade which they can benefit from and side grades are debatable. However the people doing DKP and loot (Abec, Alyse, and myself) don't understand every stat, item, and piece of loot that drops we have enough to worry about, so I've always left this issue to the class leaders to take care of.

Personally I don't think trash epics should be ½ value as they are of the same quality as most boss drops (at least, the pieces I've checked are still ilvl 213) but w/e.

I like this idea a lot if it wouldn't be too much of a hassle for you to do simple math ; )

I love our DKP style over a bidding system. The only problems I had were that some worthless minor upgrades would cost the same as a huge upgrade. The different ratios would definitely alleviate that .. not as well as a bidding system, but bidding systems have their own problems that greatly outweigh benefits such as that. I enjoy not having to worry about my DKP and having loot go by quickly, rather than waiting on a long bid-war.

Ok on the major/minor upgrade bit you could have people talk over with their CL about getting less dkp reduced for a minor upgrade to that of lets say a off spec item. that way people are not getting bounced to the bottom of the list for having to take something that is only a minor upgrade.

EDIT: with the dkp being tracked as it is now you can always not have the chat of how much dkp per item during a raid and have it taken care of post raid.

If you want an item, roll on it. Doesn't matter how much it fucking costs. If you know a guildie can use it much more than you, passing is okay.

Everything else and you worry too goddamn much about loot. We're in this together, so we might as well act like it.
