What mods to get?

Grim regarding the Unitframes or lack there of, ya I saw that problem as well since CT is not been used forever ago. X-perl Unitframes resolves the not having raid party bars witht he functions you would need. The raiding I did last night I had no latency issues and was No. 3 on DPS... I was pumping between 1557-1890 not too bad for wearing half heal gear.

Prior to the mod changes it was more like 990-1250 tops. I will look at other UI mods, any specific mods you would recommend for custom modding?

Yeah, Ive opted for X-Perl in my recent ui's. I used to use pitbull, but found that X-Perl had a much smaller memory footprint. Ive heard the memory issue has been corrected though. What annoyed me about spartans unit frames (among other things) was the fact that I would have had to basically run 2/3 different unit frame mods to get what I wanted. Seemed pointless. Particularly when Im forced into using a default layout I wasnt overly fond of. Another issue I had with spartan was that it did not disable WoWs default focus frame, forcing me to stare at 2 focus frames or use a script (or mod) to remove the blizzard frame.



My ui's always start with X-Perl or Pitbull. Pitbull can be customized to such an extreme extent some people find it really daunting and time consuming to set up. But if you want a custom unit frame look, its the way to go. Otherwise, X-Perl works just fine. I also generally opt to disable their raid frames in favor of grid.

I use dominos for my action bars. Ive had some issues with bartender4 not saving profiles, even after a clear of WTF/Cache/Interface folders and a fresh download/install. They're pretty much the same damn mod, but dominos just feels cleaner and I believe the last time I checked, it used less memory.

To further customize the look I use KGpanels. You can use custom art to get just about any look you want, but I just use basic black panels with varying levels of transparency. My previous UI used badrasta's textures to fill the panels. (Its the same artwork used in the fattytauren ui seen here http://s.wowinterface.com/preview/pvw20724.jpg)

Ive recently come to love sexymap. Not only is it a nice minimap mod, its... well... its sexy. Screenshots dont do it justice, you have to see it in all its animated glory.

To get everything just right, I use Align. It throws up a grid so you can make sure everything is evenly spaced, etc.

I use a lot of mods, but those pretty much cover the "look".




Glad your latency problems are fixed up though. I wouldn't have thought a clunky ui would affect anything other than fps...

Awesome info Ty TY Brah. ya Who would have thought a clunky UI and mod set up like the one I used to use could hold back on FPS and increase latency, as odd as it seems. memory hole victm quite possibly.

I'll have a look at the mods you recommended tomorrow night as I am busy tonight with my sons Christmas concert, followed by some much needed grinding for gold.

I started using this a while ago when I got annoyed with the memory usage of my mods, thinking that so many of them arent necessary when I raid (and are likely bogging me down). Obviously there is no need to be running memory heavy mods like questhelper, auctioneer, and a host of others in certain situations. What this does is allow you to set up profiles to load/unload addons on demand.

This all takes place in game, so there's no need to log out to disable mods. For someone who uses a ton of mods, it can save a lot of time and frustration. Basically Ive got two profiles set up, one for general play with all my mods enabled and one for raiding with only the bare minimum to ensure Im running as efficiently as possible.

Tyrull!! TY again thats just what i was looking for. Still trying to find something to replace Spartan UI it was pretty and 2.8MB max size, however lack of control of customizing the mod was a pain in the you know.... Lawler's cornhole.
