New Rig

After much debate, this is what I will be piecing together over the next couple of months. Just thought Id share. For what Im looking for, this seemed to achieve the best cost/performance ratio. Open to any suggestions, just don't forget I pay for things with little gold $1 coins called Loonies... Ive also opted for this company, because they have a local shop which Ive been buying all my goodies at for the last several years. Being able to buy everything in one place, locally, is worth more to me than saving a few bucks on an item purchased online.


Motherboard - Asus M4A79T Deluxe Socket AM3 AMD 790FX - $245

Yeah, we only have one computer goods company in all of Canada. Its especially bothersome when there is a line up outside their igloo and its -50 degrees. The polar bears are a bit of a threat... so everyone brings a baby seal to use as a distraction. Just in case.

That power supply is probably more than what you need to run with that setup. Additionally, Kingston ram is pretty much walmart crap, get OCZ or Mushkin (thank mark).

That power supply is probably more than what you need to run with that setup. Additionally, Kingston ram is pretty much walmart crap, get OCZ or Mushkin (thank mark).

I think the gfx card calls for a minimum of 750W to run crossfire, Id rather have too much instead of too little. You're probably right though... might drop down to a 1000W.

Best Buy owns Futureshop (I wouldn't buy shit from them anyhow). Both Best Buy and Tigerdirect are American owned companies. (Not that it makes a difference, thats not the reason I chose to go with the company I did)
