But I cant imagine anyone who threw in the towel months earlier than the rest, is really going to complain. Hundreds of attempts later, the people who replaced our best still weren't able to make any additional progress.

just curious, what was the best progress? when i had joined in july, i was going to pulls where we wiped mostly in p2 (and the rest to shambling) and getting to 50% was considered "good". by the time we stopped being able to put together a full guild raid any day but tuesday (2 months ago?), our raids usually involved a few p3 wipes (and a lot more p2 or shambling wipes), with many 30-40% wipes coming out to greet skyscraper lich king after a frostmourne or two.
last sunday we had a bunch of shambling/valk/soul reaper wipes and our best attempt we got lk to 25-30%-ish

Technically? Sure, the boss' healthbar was a little lower at the end of October than it was in May.
Having been there from the beginning though (more so the beginning), I confidently feel that anyone in wlph should not have been impressed with where the guild stood on HLK. Taking five months to gain ~20% on a boss is not progress in my book.
Truth be told, I played a part in wlph not being able to kill HLK. Like many others, I lost faith and stopped devoting myself to raiding as I had in the past. This forced the raid to bring in a new person, who wasn't as familiar with the fight. This was happening on a weekly (fuck, almost daily) basis. Maybe I'm overly pessimistic, but under those circumstances I dont think there is any reasonable way to actually expect progression.
In any case, Im happy to see so many people interested in helping finish off the expansion. (no matter the reason or motivation)
