Opinion - Make sure we know where we're going. Don't rush the pick on servers and make it spur-of-the-moment. Since we'd be moving ( I assume ) before 4.3, no word on when Guild Transfers coming out, we'd be taking time to regrind all that stuff.

No more cauldrons (as they require rep with guild to use, so cauldron droppers would need to rep grind asap), same I believe with feasts.

Might be worth hanging onto the Scilla guild on an alt of yours, so that if we do move, we can bring the actual fully-leveled guild if we end up moving close to when they release that.

Yes, I dont take type of overhaul0 lightly. We're trying to develop the criteria first as for what we want. This isn't something you'll here me say were doing tomorrow ( as were just looking right now, this is not something we're 100% doing ).

It takes about a month to get the guild rep back, we'll have to see about the cauldrons/feasts.

As for a server transfer, I think I’m okay with the idea. We just have to be careful. It’s not going to be some sort of instant cure-all. Some things to think about…

• We will lose some people in the transition. We can help financially, but we lost people when we left Nath and that transfer was fucking free.
  
• Just because there will be a lot of people on the server we transfer to, doesn’t even necessarily mean that recruiting will be a cakewalk. 30 highly progressed guilds on one server means more competition for good players. It also means more turnover because, if someone doesn’t like our guild, there are two dozen other similar options
  
• High pop could mean lag and server issues when 50 guilds all go in to raid on Tuesday (remember Immortal runs on Nath?).
  
• We were all amazed at how low prices for things were on the AH last night when we looked at Sargeras. That’s good for the buyer, but razor thin margins are not good for the seller. It means gold will be harder to get.
  
• High pop means a lot of competition. Farming mats and leveling at the beginning of a new expansion will be complete AIDS.
  
• A server with a 1:0.05 Ally:Horde ratio will make PvP “different”. On the plus side, you’ll probably never get ganked and we’ll constantly have TB. But if Blizzard ever decides to do something like Halaa (where you had to kill opposing players to get dust to buy things with), we’ll be fucked.

I would like to talk to some of the officers of progressed guilds on the server we attempt to go to and ask them questions about these kinds of things before we commit to anything. I also don't think that we should automatically be looking at the highest pop servers with the highest Ally ratio. We should spend some time researching servers on a more even keel as well.

I dont want to lose anyone, that is why we want to make this as painless as possible.

I agree, we need to figure out what were solving for and the best way to accomplish that, obviously we're not going to be 100% but we can do best effort, we can have more discussions on this like we did last night on Tuesday.

Most of the servers back in the day have been upgraded, I do not think we'll have lag issues, but defiantly this is something we will add to the equation.

We typically all have a fair amount of gold, but for those times we dont, we should be glad I didnt just hand it out from the gbank lmao.

I think we'll be fine, it means we dont have to farm and we can just buy it. We can make our gold with selling gear again depending on where we go as when you have more people farming, they are saving up the gold to buy gear usually ( assumption ).

I'm not really worried about PVP, the amount of people that World PVP is pretty low.

These were just things to think about. I don't know if any of these “problems” will be insurmountable or if they even exist. These are things that have potential to be problematic that I think we should consider. I just don't want us to get dazzled by a server with 5,000 people hanging out in SW and 75g red gems and make a decision that ends up killing the guild.

I guess the biggest thing I have to say is that I think a part of our research should be asking these types of questions to people actually on the server that are in a similar situation that we will be.

We also need to remember that these issues don't just affect the guild. They affect the individuals as well. I can only imagine what a server that has thousands of people in SW at midnight on a Sunday is like during the first days of an expansion or patch.

Also I'm with Crucible on this one, if this is actually going to work then we need to really look into everything. I have no problem doing it, but I'm a bit hesitant because I'm not interested in paying to move multiple characters to have shit hit the fan and be stuck on another server.

Yes, but you can condense gold into things like mounts/pets/boes/cauldrens etc, and may even make a profit depending on the market in the new server.

Our goal is to move to a higher pop server, so condensing into an item would probably result in a loss since prices where we go will almost positively be more competitive (see lower).

Alyse has a lot of good points.
Scilla isn't what it used to be by any means. Not saying there still isn't great players on the server but the quantity of them has dropped a ton.
Another thing that might help us out when looking at these realms and its respective guilds is to look at what types of applications other guilds that would be similar to us get so we know about volume, quality, etc.
The types of players and their quality would probably be the most important factor to consider.
All the other small problems are just that and can be easily fixed.
And its safe to assume a small chunk of the not so core people would probably stay behind.

i know i'm new but i thought i'd put up my thoughts on this because i was torn between staying and realm transferring...
If we transferred enough to raid wouldn't it be important to find a server where we aren't ranked number 18th for alliance 3/7h where we wouldn't get much good attention more of just bad's that couldn't cut it in the more progressed guilds... the server i was looking at was US-Mannoroth...
