Be wary there are circle jerks in the girl's bathroom over evga cards, I can't imagine them being worth the 10-20% markup for a limited lifetime warranty.

As for what you already have picked out, you're on the right track but get an unlocked i5 and a good aftermarket cooler and you've got an easy 20-30% increase in performance from a really simple overclock.

That motherboard is not worth the cost and is extended ATX. It is also only a P67 motherboard, and Intel's newer chip-set the Z68 has a better overclocking and feature set. The run of the mill ATX ASUS P8Z68 will suit your build just fine and is half the cost.

I don't know how much of a difference 3.0 Gb/s to 6.0 Gb/s makes on a non-SSD hard drive but it is the same price and your motherboard supports 6.0 Gb/s so might as well get the 6.0 Gb/s version.

RAM is fine, and DDR3 1333, 1600, and 1833 should all work at their speeds out of the box with a Sandy Bridge, so you could go a little faster but don't sacrifice latency.

Fuck the 460! A 6950 or a 560 Ti are both only $200. Look at benchmarks and read reviews for video cards because this is the component that people are most biased about.

Assuming you already have a mouse and keyboard and a monitor hopefully at least 1680x1050. This is what I recommend for under $1000. Too lazy to link to newegg sorry.

AMD 6950 or Nvidia 560 Ti, I think the 6950 is faster but it's a toss up

Corsair TX650 v2 (if you intend to ever Crossfire or SLI go with the 750 or 850)
2x4 GB DDR3 1600 or 1833 RAM
Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 or Western Digital Caviar Black hard drive, I prefer Western Digital and am using a few Caviar Blacks currently

I was going to go through jack's list and link to newegg, but some of the parts really depend on what you choose for cpu/mobo/gpu. I'd probably pick these three for your budget:

As for the power supply, I agree with Jack on the ranges. You could probably go a little lower (500-550W) with an AMD card simply because it draws less power than a fermi at load. I'd still go with a 750-800 for possible expansion. Higher wattages will have more rails for things such as hard disk drives and dvd drives. As for brands, I usually go with Antec. Corsair is fine too. Another thing to look at is if you want modular cables. It'll cut down on clutter which will keep your case cooler, but they usually cost 30-50 more than regular PSUs.

Edit: actually the GPU will probably put you over budget since those three are around 650. RAM will be 50-75, a 1TB WD caviar black will be 130, and a PSU will be around 100. If you go down to a 6870, that would be 80-90 dollars cheaper.

That is one of the best 6950s. You could just go with the 1 GB version of 6950 which would save you $40-50. You only really need lots of VRAM when your running multiple monitors at high resolutions.
