Sartharion 10 man w/ 3 Drakes This Week
Posted by: Archlight - 12-08-2008, 02:09 AM - Forum: GINERAL FORUM - Replies (12)

One of my many motos are "All or Nothing". So fuck 1 drake, fuck 2 drakes, let's go for the gold. I've been watching videos and reading up on the fight extensively. We've all mostly experienced 3 drakes in 25man, and have actually downed 2, which... as smoothly as 2 went I won't be surprised in the least if we get the 3rd down this coming week after only a handful of attempts. So as for this 10man...

I know it's going to take a lot more individual skill and performance than 25. No healers can be carrying other healers, no dps can carry other dps, and tanks being poorly geared just cannot be an issue. Going pretty much by the same raid setup as method, we'd need:

Prot War
Enh Sham
Holy Pally
Holy Priestx2
BM Hunterx2
Feral Druid
Unholy DK
Ret Pally

Now obviously I'm sure we can swap out one class for another depending on what they bring to the raid but as you can see this is a heavy physical dps setup. I made up a sample list of people I think would be good candidates for the run but suggestions are welcome (I'm sure Jack could analyze some WWS reports to give some insight lul Tongue). For the people that do indeed go on this run you all will need to be aware that full consumables will be needed obviously and this may take some time to perfect, aka non-raid time, which from the looks of it most of the people I have in mind, have. So here's my group setup, and for those not included, who knows.. you may be on the next one, or you can very well try and form this yourself, I'm not trying to make it a "the only good people run" or anything, that's just how it has to be, a perfection fight.

Line-Up:
Abec - Prot War
Rootbear - Feral Druid
Jackslammer - Holy Pally
Entrapment - BM Hunter
Thorran - BM Hunter
Soup - Unholy DK
Voke - Enh Shaman
Theroj - Holy Priest
Archlight - Holy Priest
[Blank] - Ret Pally

Now I don't know what the hell the drama is with Sanders and stuff, I don't know what his dps is like, and I don't know if there's a good sub for a Ret Pally with a melee heavy setup, but if there are any suggestions or if anyone knows exectly why a Ret Pally is a good choice for this group then speak up. If it's just for replenishment, which I'm doubting it is then we could get an Spriest. ANYWAYS. For those on the list post if your down for this, for those who aren't I promise as long as your dps/healing is up for it I would even gladly give my spot up in weeks to come if we're successful. It'd be cool if we could all get either the 25man or 10man 3 drake mount at one point or another and the more people we get with this title the more we can brag.

  Lisettemai- Resto shaman
Posted by: Lisettemai - 12-06-2008, 02:36 AM - Forum: Recrewtment - Replies (39)

1.Your in-game name (and alts): Lisettemai no actual alts over lvl 60 besides a dk and priest (Nerfstick and Tamilan)

2. Class, spec, profs, and off specs you have gear for (include resistance sets): Resto Sham, havent worked on offsets yet as I plan on mostly just healing, haven’t had a reason to make a resist set yet but I can if needed.

3. Armory links (a must): http://www.wowarmory.com/character-shee ... Lisettemai

4. Any WWS links to your performance in a raid (recommended): don’t have any atm. WWS wasn’t being recorded during endgame raids in SA not rly sure why.

5. We are a raiding guild and ended TBC top 200 US; it is expected you have raiding experience and know all fights you will be brought to. What is your raid experience (Vanilla WoW, TBC, Wrath): did most endgame content bc have experience with all bosses outside of SWP, only downed first two in swp with SA. Started playing last December havent had much experience outside of TBC. So far, WotLK : 25/10 Archavon, 25/10 OS, 25/10 some of Naxx a lot of heroics :OP

6. Previous guilds/servers and reason for leaving: Bloodroyal was in there for about 11 months, left due to guild drama that I didn’t want to be involved in and so left for Silent Affliction. Looking for opportunities outside of SA due to lack of progression.

7. It is assumed will be available from 6-10 ST Sunday through Thursday, if you can’t please explain why you couldn't make our scheduled raid times: I can make any of those times

8. Explain what puts you at the top, we raid to be at the top and expect it of all our members. Do you take pride in topping meters, never letting the tank die, never pulling aggro, etc.? What seperates you from the rest? Be specific, this will be a major indicator of the kind of player you are! I always try to beat out better geared players. I take it as a sign of skill to be undergeared and killing on the meters. I usually top the meters during raids in most situations. I learn quickly and listen well.

10. If you have thoroughly answered the following questions and are confident you are what we are looking for, you have a good chance of being trialed, but we'd like to know why you want to join us? What made you choose us over the other guilds out there? (only part Abec cares about(Srsly)) I like that they like winning and overall want to be the best alli guild on the server and are ambitious enough to take on the world ranks. I want that for myself as I take pride in being the best I can possibly be, naturally i would want to surround myself with the best players on the server to help me get to that goal. Smile

12. Add anything else you think we’d find interesting (such as you’re a GM, you recorded WWS for your old guild, you were an officer or did assignments in a past guild, you are Kalgan’s alt, or anything else worth noting). no leadership experience from being a gm or officer, however I am leading or co-leading horde city raids and plan on running pugs once 25 man content in naxx is puggable for the masses. I used to run pugs of 25 man raids in BC.

13. WHAR LEWTS PLZ HALp is a fun time guild that's comments and nature can offend people if taken personally, although we commit to teamwork and never intentionally intend to performance, your gear, your application, your spec, your voice, your gender, your race, your old guild, etc. so we must ask if you are easily offended by harsh criticism and/or obscenities? and YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! FUCK NO.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FOR UI SEE ATTATCHMENT. I rly only use healbot, xperl and totem timers, no bar mods. simple is best Smile

Warlocks are so broken QQQQ

Quote:We talked about locks just this morning, but I don't have any upcoming announcements yet. I'm sorry I can't always grace every thread with promises of buffs and new abilities, but we try to be careful with the changes we make. The fact that we still manage to break things sometimes suggest that we might not even be careful enough. Fear not, locks. We hear you.

  Mythrendos - Enhance shaman
Posted by: Mythrendos - 12-03-2008, 03:47 PM - Forum: Recrewtment - Replies (9)

1. Your in-game name (and alts):
Mythrendos(Main), Krystalmyth, Mytherial

2. Class, spec, profs, and off specs you have gear for (include resistance sets):
Enhancement Shaman; Herablism(450) and Alchemy(428); I have full Shadow Resist gear from BT. I am currently working on a full frost resist set(boots so far), although I'm pretty sure it's not gonna be needed.

3. Armory links (a must):
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-shee ... Mythrendos

4. Any WWS links to your performance in a raid (recommended):
N/A

5. We are a raiding guild and ended TBC top 200 US; it is expected you have raiding experience and know all fights you will be brought to. What is your raid experience (Vanilla WoW, TBC, Wrath):
I started playing in the release of BC, but quickly leveled and began raiding. I have done every raid in the game up to Sunwell. Cleared BT and up to Felmyst post patch.. Sadly. In Wrath I've only done up to Sapp on 10 man Naxx and Sartharion on Normal and heroic(19 manned).

6. Previous guilds/servers and reason for leaving:
Silent Affliction: I have raided with SA pretty much since the beginning and I enjoyed the relaxed setting it had. However now that Wrath is out I wish to see the game at a much faster and less wipe-infested pace.

7. It is assumed you will be available from 6-10 ST Sunday through Thursday, if you can’t please explain why you couldn't make our scheduled raid times:
I will be able to make every raid and I am usually on as soon as I get home. Normally running Archlight on Heroic mode. Sup

8. Explain what puts you at the top, we raid to be at the top and expect it of all our members. Do you take pride in topping meters, never letting the tank die, never pulling aggro, etc.? What seperates you from the rest? Be specific, this will be a major indicator of the kind of player you are!
I take pride in sustaining high dps on boss fights. Not necessarily being #1, but I take into account that my spec is for raid utility as well as doing considerable dps. I know how to watch my aggro and know when to stop attacking or getting the fuck out of the place when it's getting PRETTY RISKY!

9. A screenshot of your UI will help us consider you (Thumbnail Please.)

Like i said before, I want to see content faster and done more efficiently. This guild is known for seeing content and downing content in very little time. But also because from the people I have talked to in WLPH are pretty cool and know how to have fun but immediately switch to SRS when they need to be.

12. Add anything else you think we’d find interesting (such as you’re a GM, you recorded WWS for your old guild, you were an officer or did assignments in a past guild, you are Kalgan’s alt, or anything else worth noting).
I'm from the south and enjoy lynching Blacks.

Atm, I'm still working on gear upgrades. Will have my shoulder enchant soon as well. I'm very dedicated to my shaman and will do anything for it... ANYTHING. I'd even suck some cock and balls.

  Gonna be missing raids
Posted by: Tirana - 12-02-2008, 02:38 PM - Forum: GINERAL FORUM - Replies (9)

My new class schedule came in, and it looks like I won't be able to raid on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next 2 weeks, then starting again January 5th. I'll of course be sure to make the raids for the rest of the time. I also might miss some classes, but who knows?

  Djlubbs, Feral Druid

1. Your in-game name (and alts):
Djlubbs

2. Class, spec, profs, and off specs you have gear for (include resistance sets):
Druid, Feral, Mining/Jewlcrafting.... I have a full epic frost resist set(lol).

3. Armory links (a must):
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-shee ... &n=Djlubbs

4. Any WWS links to your performance in a raid (recommended):
N/A.

5. We are a raiding guild and ended TBC top 200 US; it is expected you have raiding experience and know all fights you will be brought to. What is your raid experience (Vanilla WoW, TBC, Wrath):
I began playing the game in the beta, and raided as a Resto shaman clearing up through Nax before BC launch. After quitting for 1.5 years I chose to level my druid and have seen through Black Temple(post nerf). In Wotlk I have seen only Saltharion.

6. Previous guilds/servers and reason for leaving:
Slash Sigh. I feel it is time to leave because I have found that I would like to play WoW on a higher caliber.

7. It is assumed you will be available from 6-10 ST Sunday through Thursday, if you can’t please explain why you couldn't make our scheduled raid times:
All work.

8. Explain what puts you at the top, we raid to be at the top and expect it of all our members. Do you take pride in topping meters, never letting the tank die, never pulling aggro, etc.? What seperates you from the rest? Be specific, this will be a major indicator of the kind of player you are!

I am an extremely dedicated individual who prides myself in knowing my class mechanics as well as game mechanics which allow me to perform my job at any given time.

9. A screenshot of your UI will help us consider you (Thumbnail Please.)
Its there take a look.

10. If you have thoroughly answered the following questions and are confident you are what we are looking for, you have a good chance of being trialed, but we'd like to know why you want to join us? What made you choose us over the other guilds out there? (only part Abec cares about(Srsly))

Because people suck and you guys don't? I already know you guys have one primary feral druid and understand that I may not be always allowed a raid spot.

12. Add anything else you think we’d find interesting (such as you’re a GM, you recorded WWS for your old guild, you were an officer or did assignments in a past guild, you are Kalgan’s alt, or anything else worth noting).

My shaman has the "Warlord" title.

  Finally, news about Ulduar
Posted by: abecx - 12-01-2008, 05:54 AM - Forum: GINERAL FORUM - Replies (5)

Raid difficulty and tanking
We definitely wanted to make tanking, especially 5-player dungeons and the introductory raids, a little easier. We also wanted to improve the AE-tanking capabilities of all tanks.

We don't think the threat game is what is fun about tanking. It's a largely invisible and confusing number that traditionally required a mod in order to be tracked. We do want tanks to care about threat (or else they just stack mitigation and blame threat on the rogue) and we want them to care about dps too.

Remember that the old Naxx was the pinnacle of 40-player raiding. The new Naxx was designed to be more like Karazhan, or even a litle easier, considering that some of the Kara fights (the dragons, Prince and Aran in particular) required a lot of coordination.

Ulduar and subsequent raids will be a step up in difficulty, and I would also expect to see a lot more of the "hard mode" challenges, like "3 drakes up." We want to give players a chance to really test their mettle and have "server first" mean something and all that. We just want to do it without shutting 90% of players out of the instances -- arguably one of the coolest aspects of the game considering all of the customized art and sound -- and especially not the first couple of raids.

If we're having this conversation about Icecrown, then I would admit we have a problem.

Raid composition and upcoming dual spec
It would be elegant if a 5-player run took 1 tank, 3 dps, 1 healer and a 25-player run took 5 tanks, 15 dps and 5 healers.

It just doesn't work out that way. We don't think we can offer enough interesting encounters if they all have to require 5 tanks and we would have to severely punish stacking healers if the encounters were designed for 5, otherwise you'd probably be able to trivialize the encounter. (Usually we do that in the form of berzerk timers.)

It's just two competing design goals and we're pretty okay with how it has landed. We did try and make it so that non-tank specs can tank 5-player dungeons, and dual spec will help as well.

Our goal with dual-spec though is more that you can tank heroics on weekends and raid as dps during the week, not that you tank the trash then switch to dps for the boss. Doubtless players will still do the latter, but we aren't designing raid encounters knowing that players have access to dual spec. Don't expect to see 12 tank fights or that sort of nonsense. (Source)

Itemization and class diversity
It is not our goal to make sure that every piece you can get is perfect for your class or spec. A lot of the game's depth comes from those tough decisions when you're not sure if a piece is really an upgrade or not, or if that wasted stat is worth the other enormous stat on the piece, or if you are better off passing a minor upgrade to someone else for which it is a huge upgrade.

Upgrades are also boring if every piece = your previous piece but with +2 on all of the stats.

If someone just can't do their job because they lack critical gear, that's a slightly different issue. There have been cases where a critical item (say a tanking shield) was too rare, or upgrades were too hard to come by (say druid or paladin tanks in Sunwell). We think there is a little bit of that going on at the moment, but not too much, and of course we like to add more drops, vendor items, craftables and enchants and gems over time (and need room to do so). (Source)

Death Knight (Skills List / Talent Calc. (9095))
Tanking gear and defense cap
I think DKs may end up stacking a lot of dodge and parry just because they can't benefit from block percent or block value. They aren't designed to be avoidance tanks though -- they do have a lot of armor and some very strong active abilities for mitigation.

DKs may have a harder time hitting 540 defense than warriors or paladins just because they don't have the shield slot, which often has defense on it. (Source)

Druid (Skills List / Talent Calc. (9095))
Tree of Life and other forms not being able to move for a few seconds after a stun wears off
We'll look at the stun issue. (Source)

Parry as Feral
These are all interesting ideas. We're probably less excited to make parry into a useful stat for druids just because one of the interesting things about druid tanks is that they don't care about parry. But that isn't to say we wouldn't do it. Healability, damage reduction or some other ideas nobody has come up with yet are all possible too. This one is going to take some discussion to figure out though. More input is certainly welcomed. (Source)
