  What raiding means to me.
Posted by: Sharfalma - 07-08-2009, 11:05 PM - Forum: GINERAL FORUM - Replies (87)

I know I'm usually long winded with these "state of the guild" speeches so I'm going to try and simply bullet point everything I feel needs to be addressed. Also keep in mind that the things on this list are MY feelings, not necessarily the guild's or anything like that. I'm not asking for a magical solution to fix the problems and I'm NOT BLAMING ANYONE. I'm just calling it how I see it.

1: The reason I have raided since my very first UBRS is to prove to my peers that I am a skilled player. I like having good gear, I like looking like a total badass in Ironforge while everyone runs around in their green and pink colored quest items. Call it conceited or elitist, but I like being the best at whatever I do, and I like people to know it. I have said for a long time now that the Blizzard loot system (including badges) is horrible. We had ONE person roll on the IC cape last night, and they only rolled after it seemed like no one else was going to. There are probably ~7 casters that could have used the other cloak from Hard Mode, me among them. But do we get it? No. Everyone knows about the staff fiasco by now. 9 straight weeks of never screwing up that fight, attempt after attempt, popping pots, using spells at the right time, honestly topping meters. And how am I rewarded? With a big "FUCK YOU SHAR" every single week. Mean while Aragon (no offense to him in any respect) gets 4 pieces of gear in literally 20 minutes after being MIA for over 2 months. This is further exemplified by all the casual fags running around in 3.2 with all their epic badge gear that they did little to nothing to obtain. Same gear appearance, negligible stat differences... Why even bother raiding?

2: WLPH has had a player base problem, in my eyes, since Lich King came out. I have subtly expressed that concern to a number of people over the months since release, but I really don't think anyone can do anything to fix it. If you think back to Sunwell, our player base was so fucking solid, a nuclear blast couldn't have shaken it. A national epidemic could be spreading outside but God Dammit at 7pm we had 32 players online, fully gemmed, enchanted, geared, and experienced on every single facet of every single fight in the game. People sat out if we needed, people came in for a single boss and did their job, each boss dropped like 2 pieces of loot so you always KNEW that if you killed that boss you would be justly rewarded with the gear you wanted. Now we have friends' friends and alts' alts, casuals and honestly lousy players that, as Abe even said, he didn't even know who they were.

3: Core player base going casual; it's happening every day. I can't even count the number of our core players who we have lost on two hands anymore. Be it leaving for another guild, another game, quitting all together, personal schedules, whatever. We have lost an absurd amount of our best players. Having this huge flux of new people sifting in and out in our sheer desperation is horrible for raid syngery, morality, and progression. We cannot keep up with the bads and the casuals who continue to pop up like blemishes on our once silk smooth 25 raid roster. Logging in every night for 4 hours of raids, leaving work early, detaching myself from an honestly pretty nice social life should I choose to embrace it...It'd be worth it if raids didn't turn into afk fests and "who can we get in for _______?" Wiping on 1 Tree Freya after downing HM General and doing Algalon attempts just doesn't sit well with me. I feel like the people who are contributing the most, the people who haven't given up or gone casual...we're the ones who are suffering. Poor Abe is going to have a heart attack and he just doesn't deserve this shit. None of us do.

4: World of Casualcraft- Like a lot of other people I am increasingly disgusted by the direction this game is taking. An entire "content patch" for a single circular room with two inverted color scheme Jurmongers in it. And even if I care enough to kill the purple one AND the green one, it doesn't matter because everyone and their sister can run Utgarde Keep a few times and get the same damn gear. Where is the challenge? Where is the feeling of epicness? I logged in to raid SSC, TK, Hyjal, BT, and Sunwell because I felt POWERFUL. I got that sense of urgency and desperation...I felt immersed in the game lore because I really was one of the few in the entire realm of Azeroth strong enough to defeat the might of the burning legion, Illidan, etc etc. That's what made this game fun for me and killing a slightly larger version of a Jurmonger for a piece of gear that looks identical to every caster's and every casual's who decides to log in once a week just upsets me to no limit.

TL;DR version:

1: I'm not getting gear and it's pissing me off.

2: This guild used to have dedicated and skilled players and now it doesn't.

3: The people we are replacing our good players with are awful.

4: WoW isn't fun to play anymore.

So what does all this mean? I have no idea but I've been stewing on these issues for a while now and I felt it was about time to vent. What I can tell you is this- I have no intentions of quitting the game and leaving the people I've played with for a year and a half high and dry. I'm not going to ninja all the loot I can and gquit, I'm not going to quietly just list off into casualness and not tell anyone. All I'm trying to do is express my concerns and hope that someone can relate and even help fix them. Because honestly I'm at a crossroads and putting forth the effort to fix them myself just doesn't seem to be worth it.

If you do not pull your own weight I will remove you from raid. I'm not here to carry people being lazy or afking every few minutes.
Loot will be handled by the Tally System as it always has been, with a 1 Tier Item per person limit.

HEALER ITEMS RESERVED (holy paladin gear mainly)

Tally System -
Main Spec Items - 1 Tally
Off Spec Items - 1/2 Tally
totems, sigils, relics etc are free. If you fuck up on a boss: cross charges on thaddius, die to void zones etc it will cost give you a tally. Person with the least amount of tallies wins. Tiebreaker will be the roll value. This ensures loot is fairly spread out to people, as long as people are rolling on loot.
If you want to roll main spec on another spec other than the one you are raiding as, you can, but it must be stated before we kill the first boss.

Tanks (1/3):
Machinee - prot war

Healers (2/6):
roj - priest

Healer WL:

Melee (7/7):
muffinshop - ret pally

Schnukums - Rogue.

What is that swirling vortex of power that is between the Eastern Kingdons and Kalimdor? It's called the Maelstrom...

The Maelstrom was created thousands of years ago after the end of the War of the Ancients with the destruction of the Well of Eternity. The explosion caused huge destruction of much of the land mass and reshaped the world as we know it today. Previously, there was only one giant continent, Kalimdor. This event is often referred to as The Great Sundering [of Azeroth] or The Cataclysm.
The Maelstrom marks the location of where the Well of Eternity used to be and is a reminder that peaceful times are lost.

Little is known about the state of the Maelstrom. Some think that it is a vortex slowing swallowing the remains of Azeroth. There is also the idea that the land mass was not destroyed, but pulled into an alternate dimension where some lost heroes and villians have remained.

Still no word on the Emerald Dream.
Diablo 3 and StarCraft 2 are looking good.
The next generation MMO from Blizzard will not be out any time soon (+many years to go).

I do not work for Blizzard.

1. Your age, gender, and time played: 26 male 66days played on current character

2. List any alts and off specs you have gear for AND CAN PLAY COMPETENTLY:
I have gear to play any spec. Full 7.5 tank gear with 8.5 gloves.
Can dps as fury if needed

3. Armory links (mandatory):
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-shee ... =Cruelnutz
Next time I'll be in my pve gear.

4. Any WWS or WMO links or other clear indication of your performance in a raid (recommended):
nothing since the titans grip nerf or with my current gear. usually pull around 4.2k in a 25 man raid as arms.

5. We are a raiding guild and are usually in the top 100 guilds in the US; it is expected you have raiding experience and know ALL encounters and hard modes you will be brought to. In your opinion, what is the most difficult boss encounter you have ever defeated and why?:
As a dps warrior most fights are not hard, it's usually waiting around for tanks/healers to get a fight down. As a dps class you just usually need to avoid clouds or run to a certain spot at a certain time like the hodir fight. simple.

6. Previous guilds/servers and reason for leaving, also include any references we may contact:
On firetree i was an officer in the guild "The Pantheon." When ulduar came out player attendance dropped so we eventually merged with "Demise." Once again attendance dropped RL friends transferred back to scilla to join wist. They had guaranteed raid spots but I didn't, thus I quit.

7. It is assumed you will be available from 8-12 ST (Server Time is EST) Sunday through Thursday. If you can’t, please explain why you couldn't make our scheduled raid times (or why you even bothered applying):
I can make raid times.

8. Explain what specifically puts you at the top? We raid to be at the top and expect it of all our members. Do you take pride in topping meters, never letting the tank die, never pulling aggro, etc.? What separates you from the rest? Be specific, this will be a major indicator of the kind of player you are:
I take pride in my play. Being a previous officer I felt i had to be the best in DPS and attendance, so I could call out the slackers just leeching off the guild or not pulling their weight. I picked JC/BS as professions because they are the best combo to increase stats/dps. In the runs i did with my last guild demise i was usually in the top 6 dps as arms, and could have been higher had I gone as a fury war.

9. Post a screen shot of your UI (Thumbnail Please) or a comprehensive list of mods that you use for raiding. ARE YOU A CLICKER?
DBM, recount, omen, gatherer. Not a clicker.

10. If you have thoroughly answered the following questions and you are confident you are what we are looking for, you have a good chance of being trialed, but we'd like to know why you want to join us? What made you choose us over the other guilds out there?
I don't really know many guilds on the server since I just transferred back here. You guys are pretty active in trade chat with the pug runs so you stood out.

11. Add anything else you think we’d find interest, such as you’re a GM, you recorded WWS for your old guild, you were an officer or did assignments in a past guild, tracked DKP and distributed loot, or anything else noteworthy

I was a GM during the MC/bwl days. Was promoted to officer in 2 new guilds I was a member of during BC. Tracked attendance during that time. Had attendance benchmarks that gave loot priority to most active.
In my firetree guild "The pantheon" I did most of the recruitment/website work and helped with attendance.

This is something I hesitate to share, but you all have a right to know that yes my account has been hacked. I am now at the mercy of whoever is doing this to me, and as you can imagine, it blows chunks. I suppose I made this thread public to maybe get any helpful tips or advice on how to quickly resolve the issue quickly and efficiently. Any help would be appreciated.

  Bloodpain - Destro Warlock
Posted by: Bloodpain - 07-08-2009, 01:36 AM - Forum: Recrewtment - Replies (1)

1.) 31yrs. old , Male, 4 years played

2.) No Alts , purchasing dual spec tomm for a Felguard /Emberstorm alternative spec.

3.) Alliance ( http://www.wowarmory.com/character-shee ... =Bloodpain
Horde ( http://www.wowarmory.com/character-shee ... =Bloodpain

4.) No WWS at the present time

5.) I would still have to say the most difficult was in BC doing Kel' Thas in TK before the nerf. when it was fresh and considered the raid destroyer. The compasition as well as raid group chemistry had to be spot on for that fight. In Wrath I would say for me so far Council Hardmode Runemaster has been the most difficult, primarily due to the speedy adds that do so much damaged when not dropped properly lol.

6.) Im a Horde reroll, I left because I played horde for practically 4 years. Im done, wanted something new and different thats why I'm here. I have raided as a warrior in vanilla through AQ40, some naxx40.... Raided as a Holy pally through Illidan, and a Fury warrior through Felmyst. And currently a Shadow Priest to Yogg 25. I had many ttons.. played what the guild needed and that was it.. So lots of experience with many classes and had a lot of fun doing so.

7.) I have a 100% raid availibility, I can and will make every single raid no questions asked, as well as prepared fully.

8.) To be perfectly honest topping meters is nice but not my primary goal, I focus more on dishing out my best possible dps, while focusing more on threat on tank, as well as following a specific strat and not doing stupid crap that would lead to a death, dead dps is crap dps imo. Iam a team player as well as a educated one. I show up, give my all , and Im always prepared, dont need my hand held or a bottle in my mouth.

9.) DBM, Omen, Recount, Elkano Buff Bars, BT4, BT Facade... + vanity mods ( not a clicker )

10.) Honestly I'm used to raiding with people who have thier shit together, not full of shit. This guild seems to fit the bill, So naturaly im interested.

11.) I have been an Officer in top 5 guild on my Horde server for over a year, Was on a loot council, Assisted with group comps in 25 mans as well as lead raids. Again I'm a horde reroll, so I'm new to alliance. However I'm very excited and looking for a long career with this faction. It has its own promise that I cant wait to see. In closing this appears to be the right fit for me. The next step is to see what happens . Thank you for youre time.
